Upgrade my seat! Looking at Russell
I bought the Nomad with the stock seat on it. Put a couple hundred miles on the stock seat and then put a Mustang seat on (with back rest). After a few long trips (800 in 4 days and 360 in 2 days) I have determined I am not happy with the Mustang and I have myself talked into ordering a Russel Day Long. Of course my wife is happy with me buying the one seat before and now not liking it. But, I gotta make it more comfortable after 1.5 hours of riding.
So, anybody who has a RDL, do you have the driver back rest? If you do, any pictures of it? For those who don't have the drive back rest, are you happy with not having it? I will say, I like the driver backrest on the mustang, but the overall seat comfort isn't where I would like it.

I did the exact same thing you did, stock, mustang, and now RDL. Back rest on both, wouldn't/couldn't ride without it. Been doing 400+ miles 8-10 hour days, 10 day/3000 mile trips.
The RDL back rest could be a bit smaller, its bigger than the Mustang. Wife also likes the RDL a lot better. Got over 22,000 mile on the RDL in the last 3 years. best investment I've done to the bike.

One thing about the drivers backrest on the RDL is that it mounts in the front of the passenger seat.
If you often have a passenger it's something to keep in mind.

That's what I was wondering. It appears it takes up some of the passenger's room. I do see some after market drivers backrests out there. Maybe I will try without and get an aftermarket if I feel the need.

I really don't think it takes up any of the passenger seat. At least not anymore than the Mustang does. If you have the back rest adjusted way down it can get into the passengers thigh space. and my area of seat was moved back and up for my height.

Are you guys happy with the driver's back rest? It's about $365 to get it. Is it worth the $365?
Is there anybody out there that doesn't have the drivers back rest with the RDL but wishes they did make the upgrade? |

Very happy, I’ve seen a grasshopper on one but there’s some flex in it. I’m so happy I just ordered a new seat and backrest for my Voyager.

No, still making a decision on what to order. Plus they are booked out to early January right now for production.

A two month wait for a production date is about normal for Daylong.
I had the half moon-vinyl top Daylongs on my 2005 Nomad. |

Looking at your sig pic, it appears you don't have a drivers back rest. Do you wish you did? Or is that an old seat?
