K&N Filters on a 1700 Nomad?

My local dealer has warned me against putting in a K&N on my 2010 Nomad.

I would like any comments or actual experiences re this matter. I realize he wants to sell me his filters as he is a Kawi only dealer but I also trust him.

If you keep your bike a long time and ride lots of miles, the K&N will save you money and they work just fine.

K&N is the way to go and they will NOT void your warranty.

It is against federal law in the United States for a manufacturer to require the use of a specific brand of air or oil filter unless it provides a replacement air or oil filter, free of charge, under the terms of the vehicle warranty. If you plan on keeping the bike for any period of time Id definately go with a K&N filter. It will be the last one you buy for that bike. And they make good quality filters to boot, Im not sure why the dealer would tell you that.

Thanks Steve; that is what everyone says and I think it is a matter of selling me his Kawi filters= which annoys the hell out of me. He has been super and knows he gets all my business including service work.

I have had the K&N filter on my bike for the last 3 years with no issues.
