2001 Nomad FI Oil and Plugs

Getting ready to replace plugs and change the oil. Which plugs are recommended and which oil filter? I am hoping my local auto parts store will have what I need.

This is what I used in a 2008 Nomad.
Bosch 3323 oil filter
NGK DPR6EA-9 spark plugs

I like using the Iridium spark plugs, it seems to fire up easier with them installed.

Iridiums are a definite plus, resists fouling and self cleaning....
Whichever good grade of oil for your temp and riding style
Iridiums last and last....
On the oil, here, where its nice and cool most of the time, I run 15w40 cause these engines run pretty warm, and my engine tolerances a set a little loose to run thicker oil. Normal oil range is 10w30 for cooler areas and 10w40/15w40 in warmer areas. Places where its damn hot, 20w50....
I run the longer oil filters, puts less strain on the pump shaft& gear when pumping the thicker stuff, also gives you some adding filtering area, with less restriction....

My usual choice, Purolator L14610.

These Oil Filters
have 20 x 1.5mm threads,
14 psi by-pass valve,
anti-drain back valve,
2.3" O.D. gasket
2.5" to 3.5" long.
If you have the room, I recommend the longer filters.

Purolator has changed their filters from a concave to a convex fitting surface, so they no longer seal on some motorcycles.

Irate

Ditto on the Iridiums. I bought a set for my Nomad and my DL650 VStrom. Install on Nomad is simple.

My son and I installed a new stator and regulator/rectifier on my VStrom, which entails removing the tank, air filter, air box. It also exposes the rear cylinder so the plugs can be easily installed. We got it all back together and my son said "Hey dad. What are you going to do with these Iridium spark plugs?". GADS!

I completely forgot.
