1600 Saddlebag Side Rails

I really want a pair of saddlebag side rails for my 2008. I saw some on another Nomad recently and they really add to the look...especially from behind. The best price I have seen is $209.00 (MeanCycles I think)...but I was just wondering if anyone knows of a cheaper place to find these.....thx.

I have never seen them that cheap. I think these are the ones you are looking at from Cobra:

I have heard comments that the Fire & Steel ones are beefier than the Cobra ones. I got the F&S ones and really like them but can't say if they are much or any different. I paid $242 for the F&S ones on eBay.

You will like them, I think they are a great addition. I wanted them since my bike was new, just never got around to ordering them until recently...

I've been looking at and drooling over a set myself Kris. What I've always wondered and never received an answer on is,...in their photos it shows a rear fender rail. Is it in conjuntion with the side rails? If not, can you purchase that piece to match the side rails? I'm not sure this link will work but have a look at what I mean, if you don't know.

I always looked for that as well a few years ago and discussed it in other threads but the rear fender rail is not available for the 1600, we got the chrome saddlebag fillers instead. The rear fender rail mounts up behind the saddlebags so I do not think it is even easily modified, The entire mounting system for the 1500/1600 side rails is different as well.

BTW, that is the same guy I got mine from, and that picture gave me renewed hope, but that is a 1500 pictured. Unfortunately almost all the pictures of the 1600 side rails use the 1500 with that fender rail in it. :( The ad even states it is a 3 peice kit, but that is again a description from a 1500.

1600 Saddlebag Side Rails

Just took off my saddlebag rails from my 2007 1600. I just installed chuck's trailer hitch as I have purchased a used Bunkhouse trailer. The rails do not fit with the hitch. I ordered them off of Ebay last fall, so they had very little use. Wish I had seen this post earler, could have save you some money. I am trying to download a photo to photo bucket so you guys can see a picture of them. I did not get any mounting hardware with the rails, so I used a slightly longer bolt for the front mount and used some spacers and bolts that I had for the rear mounts.

Asking $175, includes shipping...I prefer paypal.....

So this .....

probably won't fit the 1600? Because we have the chrome fillers between the bags? It would match my frt. fender rail perfect.

Correct, the rear fender one will not fit a 1600. It says in the auction that it is a 1500 fit. It will not fit, not necessarily just because of the fillers, but they would be in the way of the mount rail that you can see in that picture that runs up the fender.

Give it a try though, if you can make it fit you would be very popular with a lot of 1600 owners that have been looking for one that would fit.
