Tornado Strikes North Alabama
After the tornado that roared through Yazoo City, Mississippi and destroyed a lot of the town and county and left at least 10 dead. At 10:35 PM last night another tornado hit the town just five miles north of me. The town is Albertville, Alabama and there was damage to the newly built high school, a Foodland store, the public library, First Baptist Church and a BP service station. Traffic on US highway 431 has to be diverted around a lot of the destruction. A lot of homes were damaged or destroyed and trees and power lines were downed. As of this time don't know if there were any fatalities or about injuries. Will give you a report when I know more. I had to go and get my step daughter and step granddaughter and I was able to see much of the destruction. Drove across several downed power lines and dodges downed trees to get them. Their power has been off since the tornado and it may be days before power is restored. Here I am just five miles from where the tornado roared through and we have no damage and power is still on.

Tornado Strikes North Alabama
It's nice, for real. It's nice to be close enough and able to help and nice to have some one close enough and able to help that cares enough to show up on a minutes notice. I'm sorry the youngin's are having trouble, but I'm glad you are the one they thought of when they needed.
Thanks for your time

Tornado Strikes North Alabama
Gene,
I've seen tornado damage. Haven't had to live thru an actual strike but have seen several. Wouldn't wish that on anyone. Glad you are ok and everything at your house is good. Prayers to those who lost their lives.

Tornado Strikes North Alabama
Alabama lucked out and as of this writing there are no fatalities in Alabama. There were 27 injuries though. Lots of property damage with houses, businesses and automobiles being destroyed. Glad it was no worse. I appreciate your thoughs, prayers and concerns. It was a lot worse in Yazoo City and surrounding areas in Mississippi.
