Touring Sissy Bar Bag
Happy New Year All.
I have been looking for a bag that actually fits the unique shaped and sized backrest. The first bag got was for my 900 Classic worked great. Then when I got the Nomad it didnt fit. Straps to short. I made extensions and that worked but just wasnt right. Looking around the net and found NELson Rigg King Tourer. This one was listed for larger backrests. This one doesnt work either. Looks like Ill be sending this one back. Does anyone out there know of a brand that would actually mounts on the bike in a way that looks like it belongs. Or even anyone that makes custom bags. Thanks a lot. Happy New Year Jeff Well Login or Register to Remove Ads |

Touring Sissy Bar Bag
Happy New Year to you,
I have yet to see a bag that looks like it was made for the Nomad backrest. It's a unique design and most bags are built for a one-size-fits-all mount. In other words, a square vertical backrest. T-Bags brand bags have a decent mounting system, and they will fit. You have to squeeze the backrest pad, but that helps hold it tight. I had a T-Bags Tahoe that worked pretty well. I sold it to my buddy since I switched to a hard tourpak and didn't need it any longer.

I have the RIGGPAKS CTB-900 Deluxe Tourer (Expandable). It fits fine but I don't use the top strap because it's just at the top of my backrest. It has three other straps I do use plus the padded cover zips over them. I hardly ever take the roll bag that fits on the top. I like it.

I have no idea what brand it is but the local farm fleet store here has a leather bag that has a wrap around for the backrest that is actually a two piece system and each piece has velcro so it will fit without having to stretch it over.

I have a kuryakyn I believe" tour master" , it has a velcroed sleave so it is some what adjustable. I bought it for my sportster but it fits the nomad. not perfect but it's ok. The bag has a rigid shelf system that keeps the bag in shape makes packing etc easier also. I always have used it on the luggage rack not sure how well it would work on the passenger seat though

If you don't have a passenger, take off the pad and anything will fit just fine.

The Kuryakyn Grandtour bag fits nicely...mounted with the zippered pocket against the backrest pad and attached using 2 of the supplied straps in a crisscrossed fashion around the backrest frame (as per the instructions). Just for added measure, however, I also use two 1" web straps to secure the bag to the passenger grab rails on each side.

DaBull, I have the same bag. Your going to probably need to lengthen the velcro straps that wrap around the sissy bar. I did.
That and the leather straps that hold the main storage part closed rotted from getting wet on my Custer trip. Keep the bag rubbed with leather oi. Maybe Mac can chime in with a recommendation on that......

I hate real leather bags on bikes.. The rain, sun, and any motor oil eats them right up.
If you must suffer real leather bags, then get familar with pure Neatsfoot oil, marketed under the Lexol name. I bought leather like bags back in 99' for Liberty and they were abused bad. I would toss in a 6 pack for later and dump 5 pounds of ice in, and let what happens happen. In 04 I had to hand sew one small section near the mufflers that rotted the stiching, but other than that these bags still look new. To clean em I break out a garden hose, and once dry they are ready to go. The brand Name is Willie's and Max. For the Nomad last summer I bought a leather like trunk, which is so so I guess. Works good, the looks grew on me in time. The hardware and decoritive rivets rust, but it will get used. This is a set of 4 pieces. The first piece is a larger box, big enough to hold 2 full face lids and extra clothing. The next is another box that clips on, and so far i8 haven't needed it or added it, as i have no need in the local riding I have been at. The last 2 parts are zippered on side boxes which are on and have been. I find these handy for gloves, wet crap, and odds and ends. This spring I need to cut off all the straps and put them back in a more orderly way. This set was 100 bucks flat, and will hold tewice what a plastic/glass touring trunk will. It has a shoulder strap too, which means once I make it fit right, removing it will be easy, and to carry it with no hands works fer me. I can live with out pretty, and or the best of the best easy. I don't have a pic to show, and can't till winter is gone. There are a few pics of the bike with the box on, but they all have my jacket covering the box.

Before I bought my Premeux Tour Pack, I had the Kuryakyn Gran Tour Bag. It worked great! It has one big, wide velcro strap that will fit anything. You could put it on your luggage rack or put it on your passenger seat and use it as a backrest. It also has some straps for additional stability.

I have the Tahoe bag CJ described above, and I've been very happy with it. It fits very snugly, which is good, and it has a large storage capacity.

Have this one from Jafrum http://www.jafrum.com/Motorcycle-Lug...y-Bar-Bags/SB1 It is a soft leather, so makes a really nice back rest riding solo. It has tons of straps and holds a lot. It fits over the back rest either on the seat or rack with little trouble. The first time putting it on took a while to get all the straps adjusted right, after that not so bad. For the price it's pretty decent.
