A touching story.

Even though I do no like pit bulls and I'd never trust this one not to turn on me.

I must say that brings back memories of a puppy I brought home for my sons. It had also been abused, didn't trust adults, but my sons and the neighbors children never had to fear anything, as he was always there to protect them.
I posted this to my FB account, thanks for sharing.

Dave, you have not met the right pit bull. My son rescued a female as a puppy. She's no different that any other family dog. She's almost ten years old now and has been nothing but a true friend to the family. Though I would not recomend trying to run off with one of the grandkids if she's around. She guards them like they're her own.

We have a 4-year old pit bull. Rosie is her name and she is the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. She was a rescue dog, my wife found her at the pound.

My pit Rosie was a rescue she had liver failure at 13 years old we had for 11 of those years. I had to have her put down last June.

This past November we got another rescue a pit bull boxer mix named Goldie. She was about 1 to 1 1/2 years old when we got her.
We love her to death, she's a great dog and very smart. The instructor in obedience class told us she was the smartest dog she has ever had in class.
We did the basic class then the advanced class.

When it comes to pit bulls or any dog for that matter it's all in how you treat them.

Thanks for posting this. I think people who don't trust a particular bred just don't understand the nature of the dog. Pit bulls are the the most loyal and loving dog and will do anything to please and protect their family unit. Jerks exploit this attribute and turn them into aggressive fighting dogs. These dogs did not ask to be this way, they were taught to be this way and they get the bad rap, not the jerk.
My daughters pit bull is the most gentle loving dog I have ever met and just wants to lick anyone to death. As a matter of fact there is an issue at our house that most people can't beleive. Our shih tzu thinks he is a big tough macho dog and the pitbull thinks he is a lap dog and just wants to curl up beside you or on you whenever anyone sits down.
