Driver backrest from Lonnie ARE AVAILABLE NOW!!!

Greetings everyone,

I just heard via PM on the Suzuki forum I used to inhabit that the gentleman who makes a LARGE number of driver backrests for that crowd has shipped me the prototype for the Nomad drivers backrest. I've mentioned him here in the recent past and have raved about his product in both quality, craftsmanship and workmanship. I should be receiving the backrest sometime this coming week. I'll certainly install it and either take pix and post them or I'll chime back in with modifications it still needs. Remember, it's only the prototype, so it may not be "dead on" as far as fitment, etc. just yet, but it will be!

However, Lonnie is a perfectionist, especially when it comes to motorcycle stuff. He loves his scoot as much as we each love ours.

His product can be viewed here: www.grasshopperlimited.com

Just a heads up to those of us out there wanting a driver's backrest but have put it off due to the absurd price$ of the existing backrests.

And once again, I have NO ties to Lonnie other than being a very satisfied customer, one who can also vouch for the 100's on the former forum who can attest to the same. I don't get a commission, a referral bonus or even a kickback for promoting his product. He's just an excellent maker of an excellent product and once you see it and get one, you'll agree. 'Nuff said... ;)

I think I have seen these on EBAY for other make bikes. I almost bought one for my 650 Yamaha but they were not adjustable. Do you think these will be?

Not sure, but I'm hoping they will be. In correspondance with Lonnie during the past couple of months, he compared to existing backrests, and he asked me the functionality of each. I provided him with as many links to existing products as I could (the main 3 available to us Nomaders). So hopefully, he is going to meet or exceed those.

I'll keep you posted, as I'm as anxious to see the prototype as many are to get a backrest!

I asked him when I first got mine and he said he'd get back to me. Evidently you had better luck. I had 3 of his backrests, and although they're not adjustable like the Mustang , they are very comfortable. The price is right and I like the rounded one better than the rectangular shaped one.

I just sent him my mailing address today. he said he has it all boxed up and ready to ship. I'll definitely keep you all posted.

Beezer,
I guess I was Jones'g hard enough and kept after him. I also provided pix, measurements and angle descriptions for him to make the prototype with.

The back rest does not look too bad. I still like my Utopia as it is adjustable, has a pouch for my passenger to put things in, is wider and taller and curved just a bit to fit my back. I also had it made to my specification at no extra charge. It will be interesting to see if there are changes to the one being mentioned on this thread and what is the final cost.

This is the style I prefered but I got a smokin deal on a Mustang with the driver's backrest when it looked like Lonnie wasn't budging. I'm sure he's got his plate full. I'm sure once you get yours they'll be alot of satisfied customers here for the $.

Driver backrest from Lonnie ARE AVAILABLE NOW!!!

Hey guys this is lonnie i am the one who makes the drivers backrest. Daryl yours did go out today minus the fabric so please don't take pictures of it. I need to make sure the measurements are ok before i finish it off. Thanks. Please let me know as soon as possible and preferably by phone if the backrest works or not and what i can do to make it work. Sorry guys but these are not adjustable. I haven't yet figured out how to make it adjustable and how much work goes into making it adjustable. Thanks for the kind words. Hey beezer i am so sorry i did not respond back to you hope been busy trying to get this backrest to work. Hope your not mad.
