Goodbye, Elvis
Last night our long-time family dog, "Elvis" passed away. It wasn't unexpected, he was 14 years old and his health had been declining for awhile. When my wife was in the hospital 2 weeks ago, he really started going downhill fast. He started having seizures last night and I knew it wouldn't be much longer.
My wife brought him home on Father's Day 1997, as a surprise while I was gone fishing for the day. My kids pretty much grew up with him. We used to take him out on our boat when we went to the lake. He was a gentle, well behaved springer spaniel mix who figured out how to open doors. Well, they had levers instead of doorknobs, but he mastered them. He endured three teenage boys and a couple of puppies we later brought into the house. He survived the move from Salt Lake City to Phoenix. Goodbye, old friend - we'll miss you more than you know. :'(

Goodbye, Elvis
Sorry to hear that Scott.
We can really get attached to our pets. I know it is not much consolation but sounds like it was time for his suffering to end. Hang in there, buddy.

Goodbye, Elvis
That's sad Scott. I think that's why I don't have pets anymore. I take their passing poorly :'(
No doubt Elvis received lots of love from your family!

Sorry to hear about it CJ. I understand about dogs. They become a very important part of the family, and when they pass it is hard.

It's tough Scott. I've been through it several times since I was a kid and it seems to get tougher each time. Take care.

Goodbye, Elvis
Sorry to hear about your loss Scott. I have gone thru that several times and it is never easy.
Rainbow Bridge Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...

Goodbye, Elvis
Really sorry to hear about the loss of your friend. It can really be a sad time. I lost my friend of just over 11 years about 15 months ago. I still miss him a lot. I find myself calling our other dog by his name sometimes. I know you will miss him.
Joel, I still like that Rainbow Bridge. Really touching.

Losing a family member is always hard. I hope his final resting place is a good one.

Goodbye, Elvis
Before this thread gets hijacked, Scott please accept my condolences. This is the reason why we don't have another pet. They don't live very long and it hurts when they die. I feel for you my friend.
