Water pump noise

The other day, while pulling in my driveway, I heard a strange noise when I was parking my bike. I let it run while I tried to find where the noise was coming from, and it was coming from my water pump. It didn't make that noise the whole ride, only after about 30 minutes, when I got home. Any ideas what is making the noise? Is my water pump going bad? Do I need to replace the impeller and seals? It's an 08 Nomad 1600 with 43,000+.
Any help is welcome! Thanks

Well, if there was a noise you've never heard before, it was loud enough to notice, then she must be talking to ya....
Is your bike running a little warmer than normal? Kinda a hot, antifreeze kinda smell?
Well, if its just making a noise, I'd listen really careful, I'd open the cover up and check things out. If alls ok....all you're out is a gasket, and some time.
If you ignore it, and if things break, like your on a nice long interstate ride, you could loose your motor......

Irate

Took the cover off the water pump, and things looked ok. I went to take the impeller off, and didn't know it was a backwards screw. I went left to take it out, and it broke off! Tried to get the remaining screw out of the hole, but it will only come out so far. I'm screwed! This is going to cost me!

Why is it coming out just so far?

Is the impeller shaft turning?

The sky has not yet fallen yet....the pump is easily disassembled....look at the parts book view, and your repair manual....
https://www.ronayers.com/oemparts/a/...2d4/water-pump

Theres only a few things that can cause a waterpump make a noise. One is the spring loaded shoe which is a self adjusting chain tensioner that keeps the pumps drive chain taught. The impellar or the drive sprocket coming loose. Or the shaft to bushing fitment out of spec., or the bearings are loose/worn/defective.

Please Note*- If you look in your repair book, it says in the Clymer Manual, to remove the impellar bolt -CLOCKWISE-.....opposite of the 'righty tighty lefty loosy'. Alot of times you can ask me and I can't remember, but my hands do when I start twisting wrenches cause I've just done it so much.
rebuilding your pump usually consists of new gaskets, seals, and bearings.....FYI
