Bike lift

Bought a Harbor Freight model and an Idaho Adapter. Check the for sale thread for the Idaho Adapters: http://www.vulcanbagger.com/phpBB3/v...ic.php?t=12015

The Harbor Freight lift comes down quickly and has no adjustment control to lower jack piston. Other than that it is okay. Both pieces together were about $160.

I have the Harbour Freight platform lift and really like it. The price is right and it sure beats kneeling down to work on the bike. My back thanks me over and over now !!

I will say on a scale 1 to 10 I give it a 8 The wheel clamp I don't use because it just don't hold the Nomad. I just use tie down straps, I might add a locking wheel chock later. You do have to use your leg power to raise the bike but no big deal, as it is quite a $$$$'s saving over the air assist one. There are better one's out there well at least I assume as they are like another 200.00 and up in price. But I have had this one for over a year and have had worked on many bikes using this lift and it still performs great.

Bike lift

Here again is an example of an 'accessory' where you can buy what 'gets the job done', or go hog-wild! :)

I (and many others) have the same lift Chuckster is talking about, and I think I'd rate it about an 8, also. My biggest complaint is that you don't have many choices on your elevation. It's either 1) On the ground, 2) Middle position, or 3) Skyscraper high.

Now, you can put it at whatever height you want, and let the lift rest under hydraulic pressure, not real good idea, IMO, but when you use the safety bar which takes pressure off the hydraulic cylinder, the lift is built in such a way that you have limited positions.

With that said, I can live with that, and you probably don't need fourteen different height positions to work on your bike, anyways. You'll probably have to spend several hundred dollars more than the basic HF lift if you want to get any extra fancy features- I didn't think it was worth it.

I bought the $40.00 wheel chock that HF sells, because as mentioned before, the one that comes with the lift, (any HF lift) is a real peice of junk. You could spend $300 on a wheel chock, too, if you want. :)

If you purchase at a store, they're having a 20% discount sale on any one item over the Labor Day weekend. You probably know all that. I think you'd be happy with it, unless you demand a more prestigious brand-name in bike lifts. There is NO WAY I could have installed the goodies I did on my bike with out! Call me spoiled

I've got a craftsman ATV/Motorcycle Hydraulic Jack, and it works just fine. Doesn't go way high, but it gets it high enough for me to sit on a stool and work on the bike. No nifty safety features or special stuff to make it fantabulous, but it gets the job done for me.

I have the same Harbor Freight platform lift and with the use of a pancake jack you can even change tires on the platform. The removable door under the rear tire makes it easy the only thing is it takes two people or some special rigging. Very easy to change oil with. The hardest thing is getting the bike on the lift. As long as my legs are I must have something on both sides of the lift or I can't ride the bike up on it and touch the floor. And I just can't roll the bike up on the lift by myself. I guess I am getting weak in my old age.

Bike lift

When I get the $$$$ ahead to build a second garage, that's the lift I intend to buy. ;) I don't have room in my garage to just leave it sit there. I wish it were more mobile, say like storing it standing on end in the corner would be nice.

If you look in all most any cycle magazine you can find a couopon from Harbor Freight for 20% off and single item. They also include them in the email ad they send out. I just got a new air compressor that was on sale plus the 20% for a total of $135.
