Jack/Lift Advice
Where can I find an adapter for my floor jack to use for lifting the bike. Wheel removal and service work requires it to be lifted. I am not finding anything in a google search. Thanks!

AFAIK, the Idaho jack adapter (made by our own Idaho Jack/Bud Smalley) is the ONLY safe way to jack up a 1500/1600 Nomad/Classic/Drifter. Others have tried wood blocks or hockey pucks w/limited success. Might be the best $60 you'll ever spend on your bike. If you use anything else and the bike falls, don't come crying to us. I had one on my '07 Nomad and I'd buy another if I ever have a pre-1700 Nomad again.

I have an Idaho jack adapter I would sell you but shipping would be a killer.
It works great as Monkeyman said. I am selling my Nomad and will give the adapter to who ever buys the bike.

You should also have a bonafide bike lift, too. But if you have to have only 1, the Idaho Adaptor and a MCJack are a must for cleaning, repairs, tire replacement....

I use one of these. It was too high to fit under the bike,so i cut the lugs down, and welded it so the cups were flush.I should have bought a better one though, this can be a bit unstable.

The original poster indicated he is looking for an adapter so he can use his floor jack to raise the bike. I assume his floor jack has a single lift arm like the one I use to lift my car. The Idaho jack adapter appears to work with the typical twin-armed motorcycle jack. Does the Idaho adapter go both ways or has the original poster been mistakenly directed down the wrong path?

You need a motorcycle jack with two arms to use the jack adapter correctly.
The adapter only fits one way, which is parallel with the bike. It attaches to lugs that are on the bikes chassis. The adapter works on the 1500 and 1600's. The chassis rails on the 1700's are farther apart so I modified my motorcycle jack and made 2 inch longer arms for it. |

I bought the motorcycle jack from Harbor Freight. Seems heavy duty enough.

I used a Harbor Freight jack for years to lift my Goldwing and it worked well except that it tended to lose pressure over a period of a few hours. Be sure to use the locking bars and strap the bike to the jack to prevent it from tipping over.

The adapter also works with the cruiser dolly made by Legal Speeding, here's a couple of shots of my Nomad on the dolly with the adapter.
