Where did you get your Dobeck TFI?

I ordered the dual plate from Chuckster. Wow he is quick on the mailing so I have to get busy on the other part.

So now I need the TFI and noticed that Custom Dynamics has the Fi-2050ST for $196 and free shipping.

Does anybody have alternatives or is this outfit good to deal with?

Thanks in advance. I am itching to ride.

I bought mine recently from usmotoman they have them listed on e-bay, but if you e-mail Chuck and ask him re pricing I'm sure he can give you a competitive price.

That price seems to be about the average price. I have the Cobra FI2000R and am well satisfied with it. Both are good units. Just the preference of the rider.

If you don't mind "hard wiring" it into your system, Kuryakyn carries the "Wild Thing". It is a Dobeck TFI, just in different cloths. Set-up and adjustments are exactly the same. Just another option you might want to consider.

If you order from Custom Dynamics, tell them you are a KawaNOW member and they should give you a 5% discount. That should come to ~ $186.40. I talked them into giving us the discount when I purchased mine over 2 years ago.

Dave, I'm pretty sure I ordered mine from C.D.. I went with the model that required me to hard wire it in. Do yourself a favor and get the "plug and play" and save yourself the headaches.
I don't know which way you're going with the air filter/filters. As you know I went with the K&N 's But you can get the filter kits at The Old Car Center in Langley. http://www.oldcarcentre.com/ They were $35.-$40 ea. side.
We need a garage party soon don't we?? PM coming.

I have never owned a Dobeck TFI. Is it simple to use like the cobra unit? I have used the PC3 and the Cobra. PC3 was, for me, a royal pain to adjust. The Cobra was great. If this Dobeck TFI is similar to the cobra, it might be what I try on my new ride.

Simple to install the plug n play model and very easy to tune.

I went with the Techlusion TFI from Custom Dynamics who offer free UPS shipping and a 5% coupon discount too.

Rick I ordered the dual plate setup from Chuckster and did a trade for the K&N filter . I prefer the stock look/stealth mode. Although I guess all the chrome and custom stuff on the bike and the V&H pipes probably speaks against steath

Jared, while mine has not arrived yet :( I did research both the Cobra and the TFI and both from there instructions are basically the same type of install (hard wired) and adjustments are done in the same manner. In fact Gadget's site that has these instructions is pretty generic and would cover either install (hard wired) using the wires out of the ECU as they both use the same wires to connect.

So tuning from all I read is the same. So if you have experience with the Cobra then the TFI is similar but the base settings obviously would be different, which is in the instructions. And as some said the Kuryakyn is the same as the TFI but they put there brand on it and resell them (in there instructions for there Hyperchargers they recommend a fuel processor computer and mention the TFI)

The one thing I didn't like about the Cobra was they seemed to have so many prices for one model on there own website and confusion on some that said they were plug n play that were not?
Besides got a good deal. As for the PCIII I agree more adjustments, but have to download MAPS and without a dyno for tuning your not getting the full benefit and paying a premium for it and not getting the benefits without spending more and a custom tune map.

Just my .02

Scott

I found the TFI fairly easy to tune. All you need the fuel module to do is richen . That's all you can do with the TFI
I'm not clear what the plate set up does? I just put the filter in and put the chrome K&N covers on.

Where did you get your Dobeck TFI?

Cobra $192 http://www.amazon.com/Cobra-Fi2000R-.../dp/B000WJISMQ

Techlusion $194 http://www.customdynamics.com/motorc...rol_module.htm

Kuryakyn $195 http://www.westendmotorsports.com/ku...t-p-18537.html

They all are about the same thing and cost about the same...... For me it would come down to ease of install and use.

I wanted to keep the stock dog bowls Rick and not have the filter too exposed. The Chuckster kit allows me to do that and use the full ring open K&N filter.

So the point of Chucks plates are to keep the stock dog bowls??
I see.

Jared I found the TFI pretty easy.
I just went with the settings I got from the Techlusion guy I spoke with on the phone when I was confused at one point. Then I rode around with a screwdriver in my pocket, and adjusted according to "the seat of my pants meter." as Doc would say. There are a lot of past posts on the install of the TFI. I never had a pinging issue and still don't and get almost 50 miles to the gal. with an empty bike, no luggage. Well that was before I put the fairing and H.D. trunk I guess. I might get 45 now, not sure???
I'll check one day.
