Chuck Burt 4-21-42 to 7-22-08
He was born in Lexington, North Carolina and lived in Round Rock, Texas.
Chuck's travel experience on a motorcycle was vast. He truly loved to ride! Chuck was the Trip/Travel Consultant for the VBA but was taken from us by a motorcycle accident. Chuck proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a pilot, pilot instructor and a scuba diving instructor. He was also an EMT and participated in M-SET and the Patriot Guard. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Round Rock, past president of the Men's Garden Club of America, Toastmasters, VROC and KawaNow motorcycle clubs. Chuck was loved and respected by all who knew him. He will always live in our hearts here at the VBA. . . . . .

I remember reading Chucks post as he was doing his last ride. His daily post of his journey triggered ideas in my head about some day of biking all over the country. I was a Kawanow lurker back then and a little leery of joining anything on the Internet. I was doing research on Nomads which lead me to this site. I was on a Vn800 in '08. I hit a deer and totaled it which lead to the purchase of my 1600 in February '09. I hit another deer that year in June, so I got me another 1600.
I remember Chucks last post ended with something like, "I tired, I sleep". So, it's a pretty good idea not to ride fatigued. I never got to meet him, but heard very good things about the guy.

Chuck was the very first fella I ever met at the first Kawanow rally in Elkins WV, I'll never forget him walking up to me and introducing himself as I pulled into the motel parking lot.
I can still picture him in his vest and cowboy hat like it was yesterday. He was a real genuine guy and its a shame that he left us so soon.
