Heading to Florida
I'll be riding to St Augustine for a couple of days this weekend. Anyone have any suggestions on "must see" things in the area?
I'll be riding state highways and backroads as much as possible and staying at the World of Golf Resort in St Augustine. We found alot to do and see,but won't be able to do it all so I was wondering what would be on the top of the list. Login or Register to Remove Ads |

You can always ride into St Aug on SR16 and take US 1 to Ormond Beach for a short trip to "Destination Daytona". Then continue a few miles to Daytona and take A1A along the ocean back to St Aug.
Another possibility is to ride to Ocala via the Ocala National Forest. Ride to Palatka and then take 19 to Salt Springs in the middle of ONF. From there you can either take the right fork 314 (Salt Springs Hwy) to 40 and into Ocala. Since it may be warm you can visit Silver Springs and cool off. Or you can stay on 19 (left fork) to 40 heading east toward Ormond Beach to either A1A back to St Aug or just before Ormond Beach take I95 to "Destination Daytona" for some BBQ before heading back. There is always a ride down US 1 to Cape Canaveral too> Cheers! |

Gramps lives over in that area, so if you PM him, he may be able to give you some good local rides. I'm on the other coast, but the things Bebop said are good rides.

Don't forget the lighthouse, it's suppose to be haunted. And the old Catholic Church, it's beautiful inside.

Skip St. Augustine, Daytona, Ocala, et.al.
Ride down to New Smyrna, go all the way into Canaveral Seashores. Park at the last parking spot, ignore the no nude sunbathing sign, walk south on the beach and enjoy the view. |

Not to mention it was uphill to get off the beach and back to pavement.
We still had a great weekend. The Fort was really enjoyable. |
