Tire Change and Speedo

Changed my rear tire before I went to S.D. I knew the speedo was off at leat 7-8 mph at 75 mph on the old stone. Set it at 70 on the highway and was always getting passed or 80 on the interstate and the same thing.

Since the change to the E3 160/80, I timed myself on the interstate and estimated that I was about 2 or 3 short of 75 at 75 indicated. Not bad.

Yesterday when going to the neighboring town for the 4th parade, I was going 70 when a car passed me. Wasn't going to much faster than me (maybe 2 or 3 tops). Cop passed going the other direction and flipped around with the lights on. I was thinking I hope its him. Well it was. They normally don't get to spastic unless you are more than 5 over.

The speedo must not be to far off if this happens.

Thats my next tire too waterman. I've heard big mileage from the E3 in that size. 15K is about the average life which is good for me.

My GPS says that when the speedo says 70 I am only doing 66. I am running the E3 160/80-16. So I runner up to 75 and ride.

Good tire so far. I have a little over 1000 miles on them so far. Took about 300 for the little tits to wear off. I plan on taking tread depth measurements on them to see how they wear.

A LOT more than 5 over around here. I rarely see cops take off after someone that's not doing more than 10 over.

I replaced my OEM Birdstones with Metzeler ME-880s (180/70x16 rear) it resulted in about a 2% change in my speedo error, from 10% to about 8%. Most streets I travel are 45 MPH, so I keep it right around 50. If I'm on a 65 MPH highway, I keep it just over 70.

Woods?

They built a huge log flume down from the top of the mountain to what is now Clovis back in the 1800's, because they needed lumber and there were no woods here.

One guy that made his fortune because of that Flume was Clovis Cole.

Guess who they named the town after?

I usually run about 10 over on the Interstates, Wish we had Autobahns here.

Most interstates I ride I get passed all day long.. The posted limit is 65 mph, but it seems most folks are doing 85 like me.. And still I get passed all day long.. NH was once extream in enforcement, but in recent times they are not enforcing like they did.

Man VA is land of the lawless. Yeah we're the only state that wont let you have a radar detector, but they let you do what you want. Only real rule is dont do reckless( over 80 or more than 20 over). In my truck I still run radar stay about 15 -18 over. on my bike I keep my speedo at 20 over. meanig roughly really 11-13 over. and never have trouble.
