2010 Rally
Looks like the dates will be Tuesday, June 15 through Thursday, June 17 in the Shenandoah Valley area of Virginia. We will plan for rides on each of the days and have a dinner/get together on Thursday night.
Todd suggested that we use Big Meadows as our host site. It is located in the middle of the Shenandoah National Park and has numerous room types and prices available. The link below will take you to the site: http://www.nationalparkreservations....bigmeadows.htm If that is not good for everyone, we could look at a town like Waynesboro, VA. They have some chain motel/hotel there and it is near the Blue Ridge and Skyline Drive. Some of the VA area people can chime in on this. I am willing to check on accommodations and arrangements whenever we make a decision on where we want to make our home base.

Coach, what about any camping spots (I'm still working to get Debby to agree on the camping thing) and besides that I've heard Tammy cooks a pretty good breakfast(Hint Hint)!!!

LOL...well, we will have to discuss the host site. On the SENR board, there was discussion about what we should do about a host site. Personally, I don't have an issue with any spot being a host spot. I think we should look into using a town as our host town and find a hotel/motel as the primary host site then find a nearby campground as the host campground.
If everyone wants to use the site listed as the host site, that will be fine. They have hotel accommodations and campground available.

"Group sites available"...sounds good! That or it says you can put two tents/two vehicles per spot, so that is good too!

Seems like Big Meadows would be a logical spot. Lodge, cabins, and camping. Perhaps a few local members could chime in, as mentioned.....

I f I make it to the event, I will definitely be staying a hotel. I dont like primitive camping, all that much. I need my fresh water and occasional electricity. Plus, From what I understand, that place does not have very pleasant bathroom fascilities.
Just took a closer look at the main site for their lodges, hotel rooms, etc. WOW they are expensive. Thats a good bit more than what it seems they are worth. For a few more bucks you could drive 30 minutes south or so and stay at the Boar's Head Inn Country Club. |

I posted this in the other board first by accident. CoachA suggested I put it here.
Hey everyone. I am excited about this prospect. I would love to come I am not sure of my school schedule for next year. Either The timeing is perfect for me or it is one week too early and I'll be giving exams. I love the Shenandoah area, especially Waynesboro. I go there a good 6 or 7 times each year Classic1. We should try and meet up for a fun drive sometime. I went to Fishburne from 96-00. I'm a very active alumni and find myself up there for board meetings and recruiting events all the time. As far as Lodging goes, the Quality Inn Waynesboro, is a great hotel with central location and I feel confident we could secure rooms at 60$ a pop. Just trying to provide options,. |

We have two suggested options, other than Big Meadows. Luray, VA or Waynesboro, VA.
I looked at Luray, VA and they have a Days Inn that is about 1.5 miles from a campground, Luray RV Resort/Country Waye. They have a pool and such at the campground with rate of $28 a night. Campground: http://www.countrywaye.com/index.htm Days Inn: http://www.daysinn-Luray.com I will look at Waynesboro also.

Hey CoachA, there's really no hotels near campgrounds around the Waynesboro area. There's a campground about 3 miles from a Holiday Inn in Verona,Va. Which is a few miles north of Staunton. The only thing about the campground is that all guests visiting anyone camping has to pay to visit. Plus there's a limit on visitors per camp site.
And samkjr, let me know the next time you are going to be up this way. |

Thanks for the heads up classic. I search the interweb for stuff today when things got slow in the office (which was much of the time) and didn't find anything either.
I think Luray, VA is a good spot then.
