FBI visit

I was in La Porte, TX on business for a couple of days. Returned home last night. While I was gone, 2 FBI agents paid my wife a visit at home. Imagine opening the door to guys in business suits flashing FBI badges asking to enter. The reason for the visit was to leave contact numbers for reporting anyone attempting to make multiple firearm purchases or transfers with hurricane season in full swing. There's always a first for every situation. I wish I would have been home to ask them a few questions.

They couldn't leave numbers without going into the house?

Yes Bill. The agents talked about all of the random shooting in New Orleans during the aftermath of Katrina. What they fail or don't want to realize is that the scumbags shooting at rescuers after the hurricane didn't buy those guns legally. Most of those guns were looted from the homes of the law abiding that evacuated prior to Katrina making landfall.

I am a firm believe that when you outlaw guns only outlaws will have guns - look at NCY or Boston.

And, Bud, there is a nexus between guns and hurricanes as Mitch has pointed out. Now, no doubt the nexus to Mitch was a dead end. But, that's how investigator solve crimes. They trace what seems to be a lead to a dead end and then they move on to the next lead.

Well if they think looters are buying their guns at a firearms dealer they need to rethink their investigation skills. ::)

You nor I do not know what they "think". I think it’s a mistake to cast dispersions on their "skills". When Agent/investigator discount an idea, lead, suggestion, hunch or the opportunity to develop Intel just because they don't want to look foolish in the eyes of others, cases are lost.

You make a valid point but I still "think" it is rediculess to "think" looters are buying there guns.

First looter,"hey what do you want to do with these TV's and I pods we stole?"
Second looter," Lets pawn them so we can get some money to go BUY some guns."

I agree 100%. It would be rediculess to think that and I willing to be the Agents would also agree.

I think their main focus was did I have a vast array of unsecured firearms on display.....which I don't.

Their appearance could also let dealers know they are present and looking...

If they contact enough people during the process people will talk about how the FBI has been snooping-around and are strengthening their presence -- then maybe word will get out to the criminals to watch what they are doing because the "FED" is watching. Just a thought.

It was posted on here... so to some degree... the talk has started. ;)
