I got good news yesterday

Been limping around since September with a sore right hip. Some days it was all I could do to walk. :-[ Riding the Nomad was torture. Sometimes it was difficult to pick up my foot to set it on the floorboard. :-/ Finally had enough and went to the Dr who ordered two MRI's. One pelvis and one lumbar spine. I did not know what to think. Results came back yesterday. Dr. says I have Transient Osteoporosis. He said it is rare, like that is supposed to make me feel better. Looked it up and there is hope. It hits and is a pain and eventually goes away. Most people clear up within a year. He put me on crutches and anti-inflamatory meds and wants to see me in three weeks. So, no fishing trip this weekend. Guess I will have to stay home and fix my snowblowers. At least there is a very good chance that this will clear up by spring and riding season. Hey, something else to look forward to. Got home from work this afternoon and my neighbor had already cleaned out my driveway with his snowblower. Still need to fix mine though.

Great news Idaho, I do know what it is like to live day in and day out when constant pain. It was really to bad that they took VIOXX off the market it was the only thing that took the pain away for a few hours at a time for me. So i justs kepp on keeping on.
Cheers and Merry Christmas buddy

Before this set in I always said a short "Thank You" to God for not being in pain whenever I would see some poor soul limping around. Like everyone I value my health and the ability to get out and enjoy life. Just like Cookie it is amazing how many people there are in this world who live with constant pain.

Appreciate the well wishes.

I appreciate the prescription Beez but if I did that my bride would KILL me. Then there would be no more pain. She would probably sell the Nomad also. Disaster all around.

I spent a year on Celebrex & Vioxx before I had my back repaired. They'd get some of it, but never truly went away. Hope your doc comes up with a magic potion to zap your pain and you're back ready to ride when the weather warms.

Apparently it pretty much heals itself just by staying off of the leg. When I look at the MRI images the head (ball) of the right femur shows a shadow that the left one does not. I assume that is a decalsification of the bone. I'm surprised that he did not put me on some kind of calcium supplement. Just crutches and an anti inflammatory. We will see.

lw, you said that you got your back repaired. What did you have done?

I know that just getting a name to the symptoms is sometimes a relief. Good luck with it.
