Custer rider down

(This is discussed in the Motorcycle Related Topics board. Did not see it there before I started this thread).

Turned on my cell phone going to work this morning and had a text message from Ron (CoachA) as follows:

Mike (Ismet) is down. Hit a deer in Southern Ohio. He hurt his ankle but bike is toast.

No other info available at this time. Please send your prayers to him... Joe

This is true....I received a call from Todd today confirming. Mike stayed in the ER last night with a broken ankle. They are making arrangements to rent him a car so he can get home.

God's speed Mike.

Hope the ankle heals well. The scoot can be replaced, the rider it irreplacable.

Mike, hope you heal fast. Prayers are with you. That really sucks, considering all the animals seen in Custer.

Custer rider down

Strangely enough after leaving the farewell dinner Thursday night (sundown), I got to thinking about all the animals in the area and how they are more active during sunrise and sunset. Halfway between the park and Custer, a deer runs out in front of me and I had to slam the brakes and leave skid marks to avoid an accident. I couldn't get the thought out of my mind about all the riders leaving that night for the motel and at first light to head home, and all the deer, buffalo, goats, etc. near the roads.

And here Mike finds a deer in Southern Ohio....Heal fast Mike, unlucky to find the deer, lucky your injuries were minor.

I'm hoping those skid marks were left on the asphalt, Joe.

Well folks I'm home and tired. As mention before my beloved Nomad is toast. I'm so happy I got to take her on that trip, I really enjoyed that bike.

I sustained a broken ankle, one bone broken the other fractured, and I godda bad case of road rash on my right forearm.

Thank goodness I had Todd and Kawgirl wiff me. They are two 1st CLASS people and we very fortunate to have them as members of Kawanow. (As a lot off you already know)

Thanks you all for you thoughts prayers phone calls.

Folks, I'm tired,,,,,,, I'm on my second glass of wine and m eyes keep tearing up. so Im gonna lay down.

By the way I didn't tell my wife until I got home and she took it well.... So no angry sex for me Hopefully later after it sinks in

Ouch!! Man I am sooooo sorry to hear about this. Poor deer...

Just kidding. Mike, I'm glad that you only have broken bones. Too bad about the Nad though. Hopefully the insurance will cover it and you will be back in a saddle again soon.

Be well,
Idaho
