Freedom Rock

Rode to Menlo Iowa on Saturday to see the rock. He did a great job this year on it.....just like the other years! Here is a link to it for those that might wonder what it is:

The chopper is painted with paint that has, if I remember correctly,the ashes of 32 veterans!

That is great. looks like it is just a little ways off I-80.
My have to take a side trip on the way to Colorado.

Too close, too personal for me to deal with this early in the morning. Now I get to spend the morning with everyone wondering what I'm so teary-eyed about. Civilians will simply never understand ... but at least some try!

Nice work, out of my driving range until I get put out to pasture!

Sorry, didn't mean to bring back memories that a lot of you veterans don't want to visit. I just wanted to show the appreciation that this one person wants to show to the veterans and the people that service our country. His mission is to have one rock in every one of 99 counties in Iowa.
I went for a ride with a friend this evening and he told me that there was one such a rock being painted in Bondurant. This is just the next town east of my town.We made a big loop and ended up in Bondurant. After giving up trying to find it we decided to head home . As we were leaving town, law and be hold we found it. We pull in and there was Ray "Bubba" Sorensen II, the artist, packing his paint and brushes to leave. We talked to him for a while and thanked him for the hard we is putting to get this done. I told him about you Jerry, about what you had written this morning.

TC, yes you should stop there on your way to Estes. It a place that makes you reflect on the sacrifices the brave men and women give for the freedom that we enjoy here.
