Poor Fuel Mileage

So I have posted on here before about this. I am getting around 25MPG as of right now. here is what I have done and what not:

2002 VN1500L FI

1 3/4" exhaust straight back with 8" baffles
Hyper Charger removed and new filter with backing plate to reduce air flow in (was sucking way to much air)
Evap System removed
New TFI fuel controller
New Fuel pump
New fuel regulator
New Fuel return valve.
throttle cables adjusted properly
No vacuum leaks on the intake

I have to have the idle adjustment screw turned all the way in just for it to idle. Any ideas? I am at the point where I will scrap the bike cause I am done messing with it.

Have you thoroughly cleaned/scrubbed the throttle body? Gunk builds up in the bores and on the butterfly plates and can severely lower idle speed to where you need to adjust the idle knob to get it to run right.

+1 on cleaning the throttle bodies- I did mine this weekend and could not believe how much crud was in there. I also looked at the right side spark plug tube; sure enough, the cam chain is just beginning to scrape across it. I've ordered extenders from Chuckster.

My guess is that you are running way way rich. Bet your plugs a black and sooty and the insides of your pipes are pure black. You need a new ECM. They fail and take the bike way rich. I have seen nomad pump so much fuel that they foul the oil.

I go along with Ross, you're likely running way to rich.

Try turning the pots down or even disconnecting the fuel module, and see if it changes.

Is that 25mpg around town? That isn't terrible if you do a lot of local riding and are a little heavy with the right wrist.
