Solenoids Removal

I'm sure this has been a topic before but I missed it. What is the purpose of removing the solenoids, other than to cut the noise from the right side air box? And will the removal change the performance for the better?...

Whether or not the performance improves depends on some other factors. In my case it did a little.

The side effect is that now the idle speed will not be automatically regulated by the computer. You'll have to keep it running yourself until it warms up, just like in the old days.

If your "choke knob " is working properly, its all you need to keep it running until it warms up.

Not when it gets down into the 30's. The knob just doesn't pull out enough.

This again might be some of the differences from bike to bike ???, but on those rare cold days (down into the 20's) we get here in Georgia, using the knob makes it idle just like it does when using the knob at 70 degrees. The first time I start up for the day, if its under 85 degrees, I HAVE TO use the choke to get it to idle , let it idle about 15 - 20 seconds, then push it in (off) and It'll be idling a little low, but by the time you go a couple miles, when you stop, it's idling @ 950 rpm. The CIS's are gone, and running the Thunder/Kawi Stealth Intake, TFI, and V&H Baggars.

I ride all winter here and thats when it does hit 32 and above. The choke knob really helps and does well on mine(1600)

Solenoids Removal

I removed the solenoids, put on Cobra true dual exhaust and Cobra Fi2000 at about 100 miles. I have 21,000 + on it now and have never used the choke knob. Even this last winter at around 30 degrees, all I had to do is push the start button and let her warm up. I do have a battery tender to keep the battery working good in cold weather.
