New magnet product for oil filters
Hello all,
Two items today, first Bdog and I attended our annual toy run in our city last weekend. Biggest turn out in the history of the event, some say over 5000 bikes that day took part. Lots of presents for needy kids this Christmas. Way to go all involved. Second, I picked up a new ( old technology ) product at my Kawi dealer today. Its a wrap around chrome magnet that attaches to your oil filter. The dealer had a demo of it working by showing it attached to a clear bottle with oil and metal particles in it. You shake up the bottle to distribute the particles, then attach the magnet and wow! Those particles attach themselves to the magnet in a snap. Prolongs the life of the oil, filter and saves any potential engine damage from debris that gets by your filter. I will take a picture of it in and outside the box it came in when I get home. Nice thing about it the magnet is much stronger than conventional, so no worries of falling off, and with it being chromed, its a nice bit of bling as well. Cost me $ 40.00 Cdn. Here are some pics of the gadget. Sorry that some of the pics are a bit blurry, but you get the general idea. Like I mentioned, old school application, just done in nice format. If any one is interested in locating one of these just send me a message. voyager

That will pick up ferrous metals which are plentiful in these bikes... Sounds good to me..
Since yer in Cdn, maybe you can figure out a way to use in on a cwinter cage too. Just grease it up good so no road salt gets it bad,,,,,

I had the same idea about 2 yrs ago, got the idea from a catalog.. i bought a bunch of rare earth magnets that can pick up a 16 lb METAL ball but are only the size of a dime and twice as thick. I put 3 on the bottom of my oil filter and 1 on the drain plug, some on my truck and car. Got them all for like $15. You can hardly pry them apart if stuck together.

I use a magnet from an old computer hardrive, its the size of a nickle and is very strong for its size. I just stick it on my oil filter each and reuse it for the next change.
