and yet . . . another Saturday ride

the weather has been very cooperative so I took full advantage and pulled the cover off my bike and took her out into Suffolk and Isle of Wight counties along routes 10, 258, 460 and 58. There were hardly any other bikes out. I started out in my regular leather jacket, but switched into chaps and my heavier fully-lined leather jacket once I got to Suffolk. I only ended up with putting about 100 miles on the odometer, but I did stop at a Dollar General and got a great deal on some 2XL shirts. I was tempted to call my riding buddy Rich who lives in Gatesville, NC, but the ride was last minute and I was only going for about 3 hours. There was a bit of a wind coming out of the southwest, but not enough to be irritating. Sunday is promising to be a smaller window of opportunity for riding with the rain ending and cooler temps rolling, but with playoff football beckoning me to stay home I may sit this one out. I like riding in the part of VA and NC between I95 in the west, the James River to the north and to the west of Chesapeake and Portsmouth. The roads in general are always smooth and lightly traveled. The biggest part is getting out of the Hampton Roads area. I have yet to cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel on my bike up to DelMarVa, but I did drive a company pickup up through there to NJ and flew back down over it in the company Citation jet back to Norfok airport. All in all the riding in this area is really super and being able to enjoy a nice ride in January sure beats the winter blues up in the northeast. I do miss the snow and cold, but I can always freeze my a## off at work with the wind that blows off of the tidal part of the Elizabeth River in Norfolk. Anybody else go for a ride this weekend? Whadja do and wherdja go?

What part of MD? I've had a hankering for riding up the peninsula and back down the mainland.

Used the snow blower to remove one foot of snow off my drive. (2-3 foot drifts included)

Glad someone got out yesterday and enjoyed riding!!!

Yup, you guys (and gals) that are still riding can eat my shorts. You all suck!!!

It's -3 right now and I have a space heater going in one section of the basement to ensure my pipes don't freeze. I can't even begin to think about riding now. Maybe sometime in March.... my goal is to be on the road by April 1st. The way this winter is going, it's doubtful.

Oh well, everyone that can....enjoy the riding.

I ride to work all year long, at least 2-3 days a week. The temps in Winter are normally 28-36 deg. F, when I leave for work(normally 3 a.m.). Thank God for the windshield. The only part that really gets cold is my fingertips. I've considered electric gloves, but the ones I've seen don't offer the protection of the ones I already own. I've considered putting those hunter's hand warmers in mine. Maybe that will help?
