Saddlebag Top Rails

I posted this briefly last week but deleted it until I could confirm with Metric Thunder that the listed price for these was indeed for a pair.

It was a little confusing as they have a place to indicate the order quantity (1,2,3, etc.) I wanted to make sure that a quantity of 1 meant a pair, not one individual rail.

I got an email back from them today confirming that. They are WAY less than the OEM price for Top Rails and by far the best deal I could find anywhere. I ordered a pair and can't wait to get'em mounted!

http://www.metricthunder.com/Merchan...gory_Code=CH08

Cheers...Kris

They are less expensive because they are three bars not four bars. The four bars are around $200.
Just my opinion but I think the four bars look better. Thats why I spent the extra money.

Agreed....but easier to clean under....and I'm really only looking for added luggage capacity, not so much looks.

I looked at both before I bought them this summer and settled on the 4-bar rails also.

The MCE's are also shorter, they don't wrap the top of the bag as much.

I'd need them more to keep the wifes feet off the bags then for storage.

It takes a committed soul to drill holes in the top of their bag.

i mounted the 3 bar rails on my05 hoping that they would keep my girlfriend from kicking the front of the bags when mounting. they didnt work they were to short and you cant slide them any farther forward. i would like to know where to get the 4 bar as they are longer and cover more of the front of the bags. i want to mount them on my 08 nomad, can anyone help me out? thank you in advance

rick-I bought my 4 bar top rails on ebay. It was from a dealer in Florida. They weren't cheap, I think I paid 210 for them. Drilling into the bags was one of the hardest things I've ever done, as the anxiety of the first one about killed me. I'm glad I did, as they look really nice and have saved my bag from getting inadvertently kicked by the wife a few times.

thank you much i will try ebay. when i mounted them on my 05 i was kind of nervous about getting them right also. as the bags have no square corners in which to measure. i made sure i had no distaractions and locked myself in the garage. they came out fine....

I think oldbiker and lomax have the MCE three bar rails...at least that's what it looks like in their sig lines. I wonder how they like'em?

When I mount them, I will be on a search to find the perfect bags to set on them. I will post pics of the rails with and without bags once I get everything set.

I'm planning a weeklong trip through Montana and Idaho next summer and am trying to get everything in order well before hand.
