Hypercharger versus Chucksters Dual Plate Intake

I'm wanting to open up the intake and allow more air, does Chuckster's Dual Plate Intake system give the same or close bang compared to a Hypercharger for less bucks?

Hypercharger versus Chucksters Dual Plate Intake

I can't "officially" answer that question, but seeing how many people use Chuckster's method instead of a Hypercharger, I'd say yes. Seems to me the looks of the 2 are about the only difference, and the brand name.

Maybe someone will know otherwise. :)

They Hypercharger is all hype. Kuryakyn's done a fine job of snake oil selling of these. They look neat, like a blower on a top fueler but that's all they do, look neat!

I've had HC's on all my bikes and like them a lot. They are a high flow air system but not a forced air system as they appear. Probaly flow about the same as Chucksters and look a lot better. The big drawback of the HC is the amount they stick out on the Nomad. Some folks complain of their knee hitting them. To solve this buy a standard HC made for HD and use a Thunder Air backing plate made for the Nomad. Mine sticks out 1/2 inch more than stock.

Of course they are more expensive but I found mine on ebay new in the box for $80.

If you are going for performance, chucksters single plate kit, I think, would provide the most gain. Chucksters single kits are similar to the Baron Big Air Kits, which has a larger surface space which I'd thing adds up to more air flow to the throttle bodies. As stated, the HC are cool looking, but not gonna give any more performance than chucksters kits.

The consistent think that you'll read about the HC is that they stick out a lot and for some cause interference with the right leg.

Here's a small write up I did on chucksters single plate. http://utahmotorcyclist.blogspot.com...ir-intake.html

The single plate looks better imo. I've removed the dog bowl cross over tupe etc on the left side of my bike. After doing that there was no need to keep the dog bowl on the right side. I think the K&N plate and exposed filter look more custom and are smaller, showing off more of the engine.

I have the Caddman mod and I think it is as open as the single of Chucksters. Yes Chucksters looks better but for $25.00 its a good way to get more air in. I will eventually go to chucksters single or double set up cause it looks cleaner. The Caddman is a 9 inch air cleaner, compared to a 7 inch on Chucksters.

I agree the hyper chargers look good. I also agree they are a more freer air flow system, but are no better than the other right side only freer air systems.

There is no impellers and there is no charger about it, period. You buy a costly box with 2 flappers. A spring pulls the flappers OPEN when the engine is off. A vac line pulls the flappers closed when the engine has vaccum, which is most of the time, unless you ride at wide open throttle all the time.

There is no more air in any dual set up, the left side is moot, and all the air comes from the right side on dual freer air flow mods no matter what they are.

A stock exhaust will not pass more air, so in order to get more air you must have both a freer flowing exhaust and a freer flowing air in system, and that means you must have one or another of the fuel moduals.

My favorite which can be debated is the older TFI plug n play, or solder on. There are no more solder on units being made.

So for freer air it all boils down to what you want to spend and what you like the looks of.

The cheapest cost is a right or duel side Cadman, or the Spector Kit which this is, on one or both sides.

The next is Chucksters set up, rt side or duel.

Duels are just riding around with spare parts, incase the right side falls off. ::)

After that assorted backing plates and cone filters, etc, and the most costly is the HC kits.

Once again Mac...your right! Air is free..may as well grab as much and the coldest air ya can get while maintaining a quality filter to keep the bugs, dust and moisture (big rain) out.

Shhhhhh don't let on the poly tics will TAX it!

My personal observation says rain makes no difference to speak off, so long as there is a filter to break up the water to a fine mist. Infact there may be a slight power gain, but finding out on a rain wet slick street isn't all that wise.

The mist should turn to steam and cut carbon deposits clean.

Once when cars used to commonly post ignite, in a early days of EPA regs, and air pumps and other such non-sence I used to mist water right stright into carbs to clean the glowing carbon deposits.

This must be a fine mist, no big gobs of droplets.

A little mist isn't a bad idea from time to time over all.

And in rain it tends to cool the engine anyway.

The finer the air filter mesh the finer the mist.

But open to the air filters is ok so long as the filter can take it.

Bdog, I like the looks of your setup, what system is that as far as backing plate and stuff?

My bet is he made it. Look over his bike hard and you will find a lot of parts he made. Luvered covers, ft axel hole plugs, holed brakets, saddle bag racks, the solo seat rack, and more I see in his pics at times.

Canuks have a long dark winter, too long it seems.......

Just a quick update, I ordered the single plate from Chuckster after talking to Joe on the phone, and the K&N filter from Jeg's
