My Loss = Your Gain

In my exuberance to order some really good puros for the rally instead of hitting 1 box on the auction site I accidently hit 6 boxes!! $400 dollars later I was the winner!!! OUCH!!

Oh well. Looks like I'm bringing a full box to Crescent City with me you lucky cigar aficionados!!

I just hope Kris's booze goes well with them!!

I can't vouch for the particular Anejo I'm bringing, as I've never tried it. It looks good....so I hope so too... ;)! That said....cigars and Anejo's are like smoked salmon......they're all good.....just that some are better than others... .

They go well Joel!!

Gene, these aren't $400 a box. I accidently ordered 6 boxes at $76 each... Still good quality smokes. List price was $179 per box so I guess I saved a fortune???

They are: Rocky Patel Connecticut wrapper Mega-Sampler 20ct.

Light wrapper goes with almost any booze. I have a feeling Monday night 8/22/11 is going to be quite the party!!!

Should have bought 200 more boxes at that bargain. ;)

How long will a cigar stay fresh if kept in a humidor? Do they get better with age?

They keep forever Dave. Better with age?? that depends.

Cigars are made with 3 componants: Binder, wrapper and filler.

New tobacco needs to age for taste. As you have a "young" cigar aging it is essentially letting it rot some. As tobacco ages it gives off ammonia (some claim to get a buz from a good cigar but that's just an ammonia buz)

It takes upwards of 12 to 18 years for the "rotting" "aging" of all the ammonia out of tobacco. At that point the true taste comes out.

I've had cigars age and lose taste. How the leaves are handled in the beginning and dried determine if the taste will/should improve.

Humidors should try to keep a constant 70% humidity @ 70 degrees F for good aging.
