Fixed my drink holder
I have a Chrome Kruzer Kaddy drink holder on my handlebars that I could never get completely snug & tight. I wound up just mainly using it to put things in, like sunglasses or my GPS when parked in my garage. Was sorta seeming useless because I couldn’t really put a drink in it without worrying about it coming lose and spilling the drink.
Well I went and ‘fixed’ it. Started out by buying a couple of new screws as I thought the old ones were semi stripped out and I wanted to make sure I had good screws I could tighten up. Still no-go. I remembered I still had my old 1500 Classic risers (had already given my 1600 Nomad risers away to a Harley guy) and decided to use one of them as a handlebar clamp for my drink holder. Just cut a bolt to the right length and used it. The riser clamp is much larger, but I KNOW it will hold tight and NOT come lose and spill my drink all over me. Plus it’s chrome and doesn’t look too bad up there on my handlebars.

Fixed my drink holder
Good idea Dennis. I have the chrome Kruzer also but haven't had any slipping problems yet. The one thing that is annoying to me is the droplets that fly off of the outside of the bottle and always find my glasses. I like to freeze a bottle of water and put it in the Kruzer to drink as the ice melts.

Mitch that's what I'd love to do, but with the slippage always made me very nervous actually using the drink holder for a drink. Now I know I won't have to worry about that at all.
Otherwise, we would take a small cooler with us with frozen water bottles in it and when we stopped for a butt break had ice cold water ready. I need to find just the right bottle to put in there now, one with a straw or something.

Fixed my drink holder
I recently added a Kruzer Kaddy, and I like it, but one annoyance is trying to get a tight fitting bottle out of the holder while doing 65 on the freeway. The holder tends to come off the mount. I came up with a fix for it. I took the holder to ACE Hardware and found a rubber grommet to fit in the circular portion of the keyhole slot, where the holder slips over the mount. I went home, slid the holder onto the mount and put the grommet into place. Now if a bottle won't let loose easily, the holder only comes up until it is stopped by the rubber grommet. The grommet is easily removed and reinstalled for taking the holder off the bike.

Mine came with the grommet and it works great keeping the cup holder in place. I thought of mounting another Kruzer on the rear crash bar but I'm sure Darlene would kick it every time she mounts or dismounts the bike.

It should have came with that grommet....mine did, but at least you figured it out. My KK was starting to swivel on me a bit, so I pulled the allen head screw out that attaches the cup to the bracket (the PIA one inside the cup itself)....slipped a large rubber gasket onto the bolt, then re-inserted it. It tightened up very nicely...it's very solid and no more moving whatsoever!

Hmmm, and here I thought I had invented the wheel or something... ::)
Edit: I just went out and looked in the box again and there's no grommet there, just the inserts to use with 7/8" bars.

Fixed my drink holder
Mine had the rubber grommet on it, and I didn't realize for a while that by taking it out I could easily take off the mounting bolt.... I actually started to cut it off till I reailzed it. After re-mouniting with my new bolt, re-inserted the grommet to keep all in place.

You can also make it not remove by turning the attaching bolt around.

I have been thinking of trying one of these - can you tell me the diameter of the cup holder?

I just went and measured mine. The outer shell has a 3" opening. It comes with two neoprene insulators that you place inside it. One is maybe 3/16" thick the other is maybe 3/8" thick. A standard beverage can fits nicely in the thicker insulator.

Thanks for the info and idea Dennis. That cooler with the frozen water bottle idea is what we needed in Eureka Springs while waiting on the ferry. I am going to hunt for the right size cooler to crowd somewhere on my bike..
