The new Horse and the hell I went thru...

Ok...now for the full report of the purchase of the new horse...start to finish...

First off let me vent on the Service at Cowboy Honda in Beaumont, Texas. Two days prior to me taking delivery, the original salesman "Allen" had a death in the family and he could not complete the sale. "Scott" stepped up to the plate and assured me the bike would be ready (washed, detailed, waxed, shined up). The day before taking delivery, I called again and "Scott" reassured me the bike would be ready....Do you see where I am going with this? Well...there's more...

D-Day 2/3/11....
I showed up at 11am and "Scott" was busy with a customer. After an hour wait, I was approached by "Ron" who said he would take care of me. I was taken to the bike and they fired it up. I sat down and BOING!!!! COLD WET SEAT!!! I noticed water marks all over the bike and asked in the most sincere voice I could muster up...."When was the bike washed?" to which Ron responded "this morning but we just hosed it down." I wish I had my taser!!

Then I noticed the light bar switch wasn't working so they went ahead and fixed that too. While the bike was with the Techs, I went to the finance where he tried to strongarm me into buying an extended warranty for $165 down and 18 payments of $200!! I was like hell no. So I signed away on everything else and hopped on the bike and rode away.

Beaumont to Houston was great and clear...about 23 degrees. Stopped at the Hooters by San Jacinto Harley and had a good lunch. Left Houston around 4pm via HWY 59 South to Laredo. When I got to Goliad, there was alot of ice on the road and I had to thaw out the Nad. From Goliad to Freer I hit three different patches of black ice she stayed the course. 27 degrees by this point. Stopped in Freer and de-iced the bike again and my buddy de-iced my truck. Freer to Laredo was a 56 mile stretch and I had to slow down to 30-35mph due to so much ice on the road.

I got in at 12:31am and deiced her one last time before she went into her new home.

Day two of possession (today)...

Here are all the goodies I found on the bike...

DynoJet Power Commander (brought a big smile to my face)
Vanes and Hines Baggers (just removed the baffles)
Unicycle Sound speaker system (hooked it to the ipod and its LOUD)
Billet Lightbar
Rear luggage rack w/saddlebag luggage racks
highway pegs
driver's backrest
Universal cruise control

She now has 10060 miles of which 410 were on the coldest, iciest day that South Texas has seen in 20 yrs!!

Glad you got it home yesterday cuz today everything was shut down from ice with a thin layer of snow on it. She's a bea-u-t.

Congrats on the new ride. I'm sure that we would have not blamed you one bit for trailering the bike home. 400 miles on ICE????? I pray that the next 40,000 or so are much less dramatic.

I must admit that I could have turned a charcoal into a diamond when I felt the black ice. Actively searching for a name for her. So far I got Ice Queen. Any suggestions?

Congratulations on your purchase of a very beautiful bike. I'd just call it Ole Red and Black. I think you got a great deal also. With everything on the bike and the price you mentioned before it seems like a great deal.
