Anyone interested in a trip out west next spring?

IT IS DEC 15, I AM CLOSING THIS THREAD. I WILL MAKE A LIST OF INTERESTED PARTICIPANTS. I WILL MAKE A TENTATIVE PLAN AND POST IT IN LATE JAN. ANY LATE COMERS CAN JUST SEND ME A PM. THANKS FOR YOU INTEREST.
Hey i posted this today in the Trips section of forum but I thought I would put it down here also. It's something I have on my bucket list and it would be great to get a couple fellow riders to join in?
I am in Jax Florida. I am 60 years old and in my first year of retirement. I have a dream trip I'd like to make. I am wondering if there are any others who have something like this on their bucket list?
I want to go out west next spring. I would like to ride the Gulf Coast, then west through the Texas hill country, then along Rio Grand and up into the Southern Rockies. Spend some time there in the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Arches, and Canyonlands areas of NM, AZ & UT. Maybe even grab a day or two in Vegas. Then I would also like to ride the west coast hi-way from Southern Cal to the Canadian border. And I would like to cross back east from Washington state to Yellowstone area then work way back down Rockies before heading back east.
Like I said, it's a dream trip. I'd like to find some others who'd be interested in something like this, Anyone???

Ross, I would love to if I had the $$ and time to do it. If you wait about 12 more years until I retire, I'll go with you.

well...I know two riders who will be riding the northern route through Minnesota, North Dakota, Montana [to Glacier] returning via Wyoming, South Dakota. This trip will be round trip from northern Illinois over a two week time frame during the middle of June.

If you are interested in this leg of the trip, let me know and I will fill you in on the particulars. It does start in Florida but the bikes are being trailered to and from Northern Illinois.

It's roughly 3,000 miles by bike and 3,000 via truck.

I Pm'd you Bigsid1; you are Mike right, the fireman? Nice black 08 that is very clean! Better memory for bikes than names. That's great that you are interested. I would like to get a group about the size we had for the parkway ride to do this even if everyone doesn't do all the trip.
Coach; never put off for 12 years what you could do next spring! Or maybe you just do some of it!
Jim; I would like to hear about that ride. Is that you and the wife on the wings or what?

I know Ross but with one in college and one about a year away, money is something I don't have much of right now. Time, well, I may have some more on my hands next spring. Maybe I can do a little of it.

I would love to do it but can't do anything until late June and not sure that I will have the money to do it. That is a trip I've been dreaming of doing as well.

I'm glad you brought it up trosco. I'd absolutely love to do it but I can't commit to it right now. We'll see as the time gets closer.

You should get Kaw-Head to go for sure. You can always use him as a sacrifice to the wild buffalo...lol.

Trosco,

The wings will be leaving Chapel Hill, NC [via trailer] Sunday June 6th in route to Northern Illinois. On Tuesday, June 8th we will leave for the Northern section on bikes, the exact stops haven't been determined but the destination over 5 days is Glacier National Park in Montana.

The return trip will be through Wyoming [Yellowstone], Jackson Hole and South Dakota. Stops will be in the Badlands, Mount Rushmore. This will take 6-7 days. I will be planning the detail route in the next few months.

The return destination in Northern Illinois to pick up the truck and bike trailer for the trip home.

The trip is still fluid but the start date in North Carolina is not - the 5th is our daughters wedding in Chapel Hill.

If there riders that are interested in joining us, let me know.

Leeanne and I rode 3,800 miles this year on our May trip circling through the southeast to Washington DC and back home over 12 days.

This won't be a camping trip for those who were wondering.

Jim

Man Cave scares me. Lasts time I went to something like that, the guy's gave me all the liqueur I wanted. I passed out and had a weird dream that that I was in a Rodeo and every time I got thrown from one horse I'd land hard on another. And when I woke up my pants were on backwards. :-/
