Looking @ Nomad tomorrow
It's been about (4) years since I've had my own bike. I've missed it. I couldn't really justify spending the money for a bike when I was living in northern Indiana as the riding season is......shorter than I'd like. Down here in NC, I can theoretically ride close to year round. I'm at the base of the mountains so I don't get the same weather as my friends @ higher elevations. I'd never ride on ice or snow (or when either threatens) but cooler (ok, cold) temps don't bother me much.
Anyway, I've been looking pretty seriously for the last month or so. I'd love to buy a Can Am (the "new" F3 fits me well) but the prices on used Can Ams are way above my limit. I haven't limited my search to any particular brand but I want something that can zip around the twisties, handle a long(er) trip (long day is about my limit) or just a little commute in town to work and back. Comfort and convenience are a must. Cruise control is a plus. Windshield or fairing is a plus. So....I'm going to look @ a 2014 Nomad tomorrow. It's about 45 minutes away and appears to be in pretty good condition with just over 8k miles. The seller wants $5500 which seems to be well under book value. It's got cruise control, a windshield, ABS, floorboards, etc so I think it will be a good deal if it's all the ad says it is. I'm thinking way too far ahead but I can either see loving it and doing the "normal" things (Ivans ECM, better bars, lowers, backrest) or I think it's "just ok" and I flip it in the spring. I'll post more later once I've had a chance to look @ it. No idea how I'll get it back home if I buy it (I have a Honda CR-V that doesn't tow anything) but I'll figure something out. Just wanted to post since I've been quiet for a long time. Peace.

Bought the Nomad this afternoon. I'll swap title/bike for a bank check in the morning. Seller will trailer it to me. It's got a couple very minor scuffs and a couple "fixed" chips. Nothing that will make any difference. 8260 miles give or take a couple. I'll need to add a couple things but I'll start a separate thread asking for recommendations. I'm NOT going to go crazy like I did w/the last Nomad (for those that were around back then).

Thats great news Chris Congratulations! Ask the fella you bought it from to drive it over to your place, 45 minutes isn't that far to go. Or if you have a AAA membership, get a flatbed to deliver it.

Thank you, all. The seller put it on his trailer and brought it over to me this morning. We swapped (the banks) money for his title. I went down to the tag office and paid my sales tax and got my tags. It's been pouring rain all day and I want the 1st ride (or 2) to be in the dry as I'm not used to this (or any, to be honest) bike. It's been a while since I've been on 2 wheels. It might dry out tomorrow and definitely by Sunday afternoon so I'll take the maiden ride then.
I'm sure looking forward to getting back on 2 wheels.

I'll snap some tomorrow. It was pouring rain like a cow pi**ing on a flat rock most of today. Standard white and matte black Nomad. The only mod is a light bar/driving lights.

I was all up around your neck of the woods this pasted fall. North and slightly west of you. Did the Back Of The Dragon on my way up into Virginia And West Virginia. Love riding up and over that way.

The BRP is nice although it's crowded in the summer and slow all the time (mostly 45mph speed limit). I'll ride at least part of it this summer. My folks live just off the BRP around mile marker 235 (then over the river and through the woods). I've driven (not ridden) from US21 (~MM 228) down to Grandfather Mtn a bunch. Never heard that? I did part of my growing up on my uncles dairy farm. Ever seen a cow pi**ing? :)
