Air filter
After changing my oil recently, I began to wonder if I shouldn't have changed the air filter as well. What do y'all say? Do you change the air filter when you change the oil or at a different interval? I have a stock air filter so my other question: Is there only one filter or different varieties that work better?

That stock air filter could probably last 30K easy!!! I changec mine to a K&N just beacause.
I will later be changing the other side to a K&N.

Mine is on the left side of the bike. What is being referred to in the posts that say "the other side" or "both"? I didn't see an air filter when I looked under the right side cover. Is there one hiding back under the other components on that side? I didn't pull them out.

Help 'em out BD.... on mine (carbed) when you put the K&N on the right side....you get rid of the left side intake... I have a fake one on the left just to fill in the space...

OIC!! talk smack then ask ?'s huh? LOL
Dank: Your are correct in that the air filter is on the left side next to your left knee. The other side (right) houses the fuel injection body and it has no filter. the air comes in from the left and travels through a plastic tube to the right side and into the throttle bodies. there are kits that change the backing plate on the right side to accept a custom air cleaner so that you bike is taking in much more cooler air. Most report a rather substantial increase in throttle response along with additional noise of course. thats the way I'll be going. I plan on getting a Thunder Manufacturing air kit and not buying the cover so my stock right side cover will hide it and modifying my exhaust and either adjusting the throttle position sensor to get the mixture right or buying a techclusion fuel controller and dialing it in myself.
