My first big trip on my new Nomad
On the 18th I'm heading from Dallas to Gunnison, Colorado for a week of riding. I should be hitting peak or just past peak Aspen season in the high country. Although I have done this trip a half dozen times on my prior bike, a '02 Nomad 1500 FI, this will be my first touring trip on my new Nomad 1700. I'm hoping that I enjoy the new Nomad on the road as much as I loved my 1500. Fingers crossed.

My first big trip on my new Nomad
Have a good trip and take some pics. Gunnison is my "paternal homeland." My grandparents owned the Crescent Motel there for several decades.
Haven't heard much feedback from '09 owners about ergonomic issues with the new Nomads, (saddle comfort, riding position, handlebar reach, etc.) Curious to hear more. |

Hope your trip is safe and the weather is great. Have fun and let us know how the 1700 did.

My first big trip on my new Nomad
The big question for me is going to be the seat. Without a drivers backrest I'm a little apprehensive that a 3500 mile journey is going to be a killer. The seat itself seems pretty comfortable. But so far I haven't ridden 500+ miles a day on it. It might be time for a day-long seat when I get back.
I have added a larger windshield and larger lowers so I think I have the buffeting issue licked. And I'm really looking forward to having cruise control on those long stretches through Amarillo. Just butt ugly highway up there. Thank god for XM radio! Doug |

Hey Doug I am happy with my windshield size but am interested in larger sized lowers. Where did you get yours from please.

The lowers look great. So give some details on how to make them. Did you use the hardware from the stock ones? How thick is the plexi glass? I would have sent you a private memo but don't h=kow how.

DRNO
Those lowers look great. How easy are they to make? Would you mail me a copy of an outline so I can make a pair? Doug |

Me too, I would like to have a copy of your pattern. I am tired of waiting for Edmond Enterprises to make their large lowers for the 09 Nomad. Their internet sites merely says lowers will available soon.
Thanks. |

My first big trip on my new Nomad
I just received my lowers in the mail from Edmud Enterprises and am trying to install them. The plastic is thicker than the stock ones so I need longer bolts. I just have to find a place that sells them. They look good an look like they will do the job so ignore the web site and contact the supplier.
