Any Amsoil Love?

Approaching the first oil change on my 08 Nomad, and was wondering if there is anybody here running amsoil in their bike. I've been using it since 05 in my 1500 Meanstreak, and noticed improvement in noise, gas economy and overall running, but since Kawasaki's change to the 1600 powerplant, figured I'd ask before I just went and did it on my newer one.

Thanks, Gregg

Kewl,

Any idea's where I can get a service manual for my 1600 Nomad? Really dont want to pay $59 for a factory manual, and the clymer manual only covers the 1500's. Can't seem to find anything on the web either.

Thanks, Gregg

Use it when I can get it in my '07. I believe it does make a difference.

No love here. I don't care for how they market it. If it's such a superior product, it should be sold in stores.

Snake oil!

If there ever was an oil that could live up to the hype of Amsoil, manufactures would have bought the company and used that oil in their products thereby reducing maintenence costs on their engines because amsoil lubed so much better!!!!!

Think about it. what manufacture would NOT use it if it made their engines last longer as all the hype indicates???

Lets see.. If I knew of a substance that would make my product last longer and thus causing a longer turn around between my sales, I would hope no one found out about it.

Drug dealers make their money on the comeback.. ;)

Oh boy another oil thread. ::)

I run Amsoil 10w40 in all my bikes. Miracle oil? perhaps not but it is a true synthetic oil and I get a great price from a dealer in GP.

Same here Bosko. Oh boy another oil thread????

Snake oil, probably not. Far superior, again probably not. Asking which oil is best is like asking which make of pickup is best, Ford or Chevy. Everyone has their opinion and if they have had good success with a certain product, so be it.

Me, I have had very good results with Amsoil. I have run their intervals on oil changes (25,000 miles) in the PU and cars for 15 years without any problem. Truck has 210,000 and still doesn't burn any oil. What really sold me was the viscosity at extremely cold temps. When the temps hit -20 or below, regular oil is like syrup. The oil pressure goes thru the roof on a cold start. Synthetics, ran on the low side of the oil pressure until it warmed up and then was where it should run. That was enough to sell me.

Everyone doesn't run the same oil, gas company, mechanic so on so forth and I am sure you can find people who swear by every and any product or company as the best.

If you want snakeoils, get in my business. Everytime I turn around someone is selling some miracle product.

probably no better than any other oil. they want you to BELIEVE it is better so they can sell you a case at a very high price. if you THINK its better. Buy it. I will not.

I would hold off for the 2nd oil change if I were you... If your first oil change is 600 miles IMO that is too soon to go to synthetic oil. I like no less than 1,000 miles and prefer 1,500 befoe syn oils are used.

be sure to 'discover' the side drain, and use it exclusively, and don't forget which end of the screen goes IN!
