Extra fuel
Well its a cold windy day in S. Ontario, and just thinking about next month. Get the bike out. Has anyone got any ideas on carrying extra fuel for long trips, I thought I saw a product advertised awhile back, but don't remember the name. Any info would be appreciated. Flexible

You should be able to find gas without any problems on the way out west. The bike should go about 320 km on a full tank. and I doubt there is a stretch that far apart, unless you start taking some backroads.

I would suggest you start saving up your 2 liter pop bottles. I'll bet, if you wash them out, you could fill up alot of them with gas and store them in your saddle bags. Every time you stop, open them up to vent them.

Don't use 1/2 gallon plastic milk cartons! They put some kind of coating in them that changes into small hairlike particles that plug up jets and things! It took me two years to figure out why my snowblower needed carb work every fall...

I would think most of those type of plastics are not made to take the solvent type properties of gasoline. My brother put spare gas in a windshield washer bottle to carry on his snowmobile one time. Within a few hours of riding it was leaking in a couple of places.

These work great as well http://www.mec.ca/AST/ShopMEC/Hiking...uel-bottle.jsp or http://www.mec.ca/AST/ShopMEC/Hiking...uel-bottle.jsp
I have only seen them up to 1.5L but they are small, lightweight, easy to pack and can get you out of a pinch

We carried 20 liters when we went out west. 2 bikes and and a trailer.
Used 10 liters from Sault Ste Marie and Wawa, it's a about 250 kms of nothing!! We also used 20 liters a couple of times crossing the prairies. We travelled about 16,000 kms round trip. I posted on a different thread, we use 4 - 5 liter cans, they fit perfect in the saddle bags of my Nomad. Good luck
