Exclamation Mark Running Hot

I just got a new Valcan Voyager 1700 and it always runs hot, not in the Red but Damm close. told the dealer and he says don't worry about but I do. What is your opinion on this and is it common?

There have been many posts about this. Yes, they do run hot and it is common.

The temp gauge will climb quickly in traffic but should run near the centre of the gauge on the highway. Known issue.

common on voyagers but isn't a problem on my vaquero.i think it is because
the voyager has a bigger fairing that blocks air to the motor more.

My 2010 did the exact same thing, there is an earlier posting that I followed to make sure the coolant was burped and full. This helped a lot and I have also noticed after about 5000 miles on it the engine runs cooler. I would search for the other post and do what it says, it helped me alot.

This is a serious post. You should have a serious answer. Ice will melt. How do you expect that to work more than once??? Huh??

It's a brand name coolant. http://www.engineice.com/

Of course if you're not serious, never mind.

I did the same thing....ran in here in a panic after I first started riding my Vaquero asking why it ran so hot. It is a common thing and it has never reached the critical point.

Nature of the Beast, I guess

Liquid water is water. Solid, frozen water is ice. He's trying to put a bag of crushed ice in his motor to cool it off. It's obvious. And completely unnecessary. There are additives out there that will do the same thing (and last longer) than ice cubes like Engine Ice http://www.engineice.com/ . That's the sort of stuff he should use (although I think it's unnecessary).

Bah. What crazy mind would ever think of putting ice cubes in a motor?

IMHO, the gauge probably shouldn't have been installed. All it does is make everyone nervous about what they see. The bikes don't overheat, so what is the problem? Every water cooled bike I've ever owned ran hot in the summer and especially in stop and go traffic (I live and work in the NYC metro area). An idiot light for temp would have been a better choice as an indicator rather than the gauge. If you don't see it, you don't worry about it. The other alternative for Kawi was to have a better calibrated temp sensor so the gauge wouldn't read so high. Just my opionion......
