If the noise is loud enough to hear over wind, road and exhaust going down the road, jacking it up and slowly rotating the wheel should tell you where the noise is without starting the bike.

I don't get all the complaining about rider felt heat. The faring is designed to push air away from the rider. Pushing air away from the rider is going to allow the engine heat to not be stripped...
