Help with drivers backrest

I need someone to tell me if I have this backrest put together correctly or not. It just don't seem right. Can't tighten it enough to keep it in one place, and rides high on your back. YOur help would be aprreciated. This was on the bike when I got it. Just click on the link.

Help with drivers backrest

Looks to me like the bracket may be backwards. It should easily fold forward to allow you to swing you leg over the bike.

Help with drivers backrest

I think its correct from what I see. That is the same backrest that I have on my bike, except that the previous owner didn't use the chrome bracket that raises the pad up higher. My backrest is bolted directly to the bracket which causes it to sit lower. I kind of wish I had the peice there so I could raise the pad up a little more from were it is now.

I took it apart and it won't work without the chrome pieces. Can you send a picture of yours on the bike?

That bottom piece that allows the seat to tilt forward is on backwards.

+1 bracket is backwards. Check out this picture (not the best quality) and you can see the way it should be. Checked the CWI website and they all picture it the other way as well.

Help with drivers backrest

I had that same backrest before I got my BAKUP. You have to really torque those bolts down to make it stay in place, and the chrome bar that loops over the seat is not so popular with passengers. ::) I got my BAKUP backrest, and it is a work of art. Grasshopper makes a real fine piece too, you should check those out, for the money, go with Grasshopper's. ;) His weren't available for the Nomad when I bought mine, and the BAKUP's are pricey, but well worth the bucks. Another consideration is the Utopia backrest. The CWI backrest has some really nice, heavy chrome, but it's drawbacks are the loop over the seat and the fact you have to crank down on the bolts to keep it in place. In addition it will feel like a brick in your back on long rides too. ::) Hope you get that one straightened out, as backrest are as essential to a Nomad as a trailer is to a Harley. Good luck... ;)

First 3-wheeler Nomad I have seen. Looks pretty good. Whatever it takes to keep the knees in the breeze. You are at the right place to get great advise.

Thanks to all that replied. :) I think I've got it now. Have to try it today with the wife on behind me. This bike is not a true Trike. :-[ It has a Tow-Pac Insta2 Trike kit on it. You still have the original rear wheel on it. Actually it is a Quad. Only three bolts to take it off so you can ride 2 wheels again.
