Big, bigger, biggest!

Last week I was in Germany for my job and visit the BAUMA exhibition in Munich.

The biggest cranes, dumpers, shovels and excavators on earth are shown on this exhibition.

When you think that your Nomad is a large machine, look at the pics below!

Greetings

Nomadman

Big, bigger, biggest!

In 1981 I worked for a Caterpiller dealer here, I got to run some of the big equipment and it was like playing with giant Tonka toys. Theres nothing like having a 1000hp D9 bulldozer rumbling beneath you. Or carrying a D8 around with a giant lift truck.

I used to service equipment at the massive Kennecott Copper Mine west of Salt Lake City. Tonka Toys on a grand scale! My favorite area was the truck shop high atop a mountain that overlooked the pit. That's where they serviced the gigantic dump trucks.

I do run these trucks for a living, 797b cats. Two v-12 engines coupled together along with a 7 speed automatic. Top speed is 67kmph or 42mph. Net weight is 250 tons and gross weight is 700 tons. Get one of these trucks going down a 6% slope fully loaded and its snowing or raining out. They can get sideways on you real quick which is a whole new meaning of "white knuckle". ...Bdog

Just think of what a set of tires cost on one of those things.

Not to mention an oil-change once in a while. Wonder how many gallons it takes...

Ya think mounting one of those tires on the Nomad would help correct the spedo error ?

Could imagine the work you would have to do to the swingarm to get that bad boy mounted?

I burn around 4000 litres of fuel in 12hrs. on a 797 cat. Tires are 13 1/2 ft. tall and 5ft. wide (6 tires). When they blow look out. Tires cost around 65000 each. There life span is around 6000 hrs. Truck sticker price is 7 million. ..Bdog
