Choke Knob '05

I have heard that earlier year Nomads had a choke knob. When I buy mine(F.I.) '05 there is no knob in the horn bracket left side. My brother gets a '06(F.I.) and it has a choke knob sitting in the bracket. So i am thinking why did they not put one on the '05. Dealer says they just didnt. Anybody know anymore?? Choke would be nice on cold days. I only see the warm idle set knob on mine. Any help would be appreciated. Thx

Seems like I recall seeing in another thread on here about some of the guys saying their choke knob was still rubber banded to another part of the bike when they got it home. I can't remember which thread it was. Guys??

I have one on mine, so it may not have been installed when they put yours together.

My 2005 Nomad (purchased at Wild West Kawasaki in Katy) also had the engine guards installed the wrong way. I was a bit luckier I guess, since I had the correct engine guards... they were simply installed on the wrong sides (and upside down). I didn't realize it until I tried to install Airlite engine guard chaps and the set I purchased didn't fit. The guy that I bought them from asked me to email pictures and he spotted it right away. He said it wasn't the first time he had someone with the same trouble. The dealer also neglected to mount the choke in the bracket (leaving it rubbe banded to the engine).

I really like my Nomad, but its things like this that makes me wonder if Yamaha or Harley Davidsons are worth the additional $$$. The dealer network for Kawasaki is really bad, and the aftermarket parts are almost non-existent.

Its in the Something I just found out about my Nomad thread

My understanding is that a choke closes the air off to a carburator. F.I. bikes do not have a carb and therefore need no choke.

Doc it is my guess that you do have a "choke knob" (as the manual calls it) still ruberbanded to the spark plug wire under the tank that the dealer neglected to install in the bracket. It is not a true choke though. All it does is increase the idle when you pull it. Unless this is the warm idle knob you are talking about then never mind. I have a F.I. '06 - 1 knob- no choke.

Thx Wolf: yes I have a warm idle knob in the bracket under the circular air breather. But I have no choke knob that I see in the horn bracket where it goes. your right on the choke should not need it for f.i. models but i know if guys with f.i. nomads with the choke knob in place, odd.
