After you mentioned running Dunlops I got to looking around their webpage. Found a D407 HD Touring tire that is a 180/65B16. Definitely worth more research.

Oggey; That must be a new size for Dunlop in the WWW series, They didn't have it when I bought my tires.

Has anyone used a "Rollastand" wheel cleaner stand? If so how do they work. http://www.jpcycles.com/product/910-103

I just leave the bike on the ground and roll it back or ahead a bit when I clean the tires. Ive seen those roller stands but just don't really see the need for one.

Do mine the same way you do. Just thought Rollastand might make the job easier.

Try the Mr Clean pad, it looks like a sponge but works great

Yes, I have one and it's not worth the money for a heavy bike in my opinion. I purchased the higher-end model when I had my Suzuki Intruder 1500.

Here are the problems with it. First, it's no picnic getting the wheel on the thing. Getting the front wheel on it is easier than the rear, but it's usually the back that you need the Rollastand for - the front wheel is much easier to clean.

Second, I find it extremely difficult to turn the rear wheel when it's on the Rollastand. With the bike on the side stand, the tire is at an angle and tends to walk to starboard as you turn it - that is, IF you can turn it.

Third, you have to sit on the usually wet pavement with your legs straddling the rear wheel, hook your fingers through the holes in the rim and pull. Or pass a towel through the rim hole for a better grip. The Nomad is quite heavy and the exhaust and saddlebags make it very awkward to reach in, so you don't have good leverage to begin with.

I hadn't used the Rollastand in years, but tried it again when I winterized the Nomad at the end of 2010. When I nearly dropped her trying to get the rear wheel on it, I put it back on the shelf. Now that you've reminded me, I think I'm gonna put it on eBay this week.

That's why I haven't bought one. I figured the Nomad was too big and heavy for it to work well.

I jack my bike up so the tires are off the ground and clean the wheels that way.

Thanks for the review Billyboy; thats exactly what I figured the stand would do. It seems like a good idea, but getting it in and out could be a problem.

Billyboy. thanks for the info on the rollastand. Think I will just jack it up like CJ says when wheels need a good cleaning.

Yeah, even with the Rollastand, you still have the issue of the Nomad's exhaust and saddlebags in the way of the rear wheel - the rear wheel is pretty much sitting on the floor. If you don't mind using a jack and an adapter like Idaho's on the Nomad, that's definitely the way to go. I usually take advantage of it being on the jack to do things like check the air shock pressure.

The D407 180/65B-16 WWW Rear is an H-D OEM tire for the 2010 -11 Road King Classic. It's paired-up with the D408 130/90B-16 WWW Front. The tread patterns are the same.

You could pair the D404 with the D407 for looks, but the tread patterns are very different.

In researching this, I've been seeing some complaints on H-D discussion boards regarding cupping problems with these tires. What's funny is that the first thing these new H-D owners want to do is upgrade the OEM tires to Elite 3s! Everyone's grumbling about the crappy OEM tires on the $25,000 Harleys.

I had Metzeler 880 WWWs on my Suzuki Intruder 1500 and maintenance was not a big issue. My experience was that it was brake dust, not road dirt that that dirties them up. I use Westley's Bleche-Wite, but Spray-9 is amazing stuff.

I would love to put WWWs - or any whitewall - on the Nomad. The transformation they made to my Intruder was incredible.

Found as big a rear tire as I could with WWW, Dunlop D407 Touring for HDs. Size 180/65B/16, but made for a rim 5" wide. Not sure of the Rim size on the 1600 Nomad. Found one web site that mentioned 4.5" but nothing positive. If it is 4.5" I would think smaller rim would be Ok, just wouldn't want to go the other way. Any thoughts.

The 1600 rims are 4 1/2" wide, that Dunlop should go on there fine. Guys are putting 205 car tires on those same rims.
