KNOW session (cam tensioners)

I read about these garage get togethers to do maintenance. Was that the right title the "KNOW" session? In any case I would like to attend one and get some experienced help with the cam tensioners. I looked at all the pictures and read all the procedures but would still like to watch one done. I have a set of tensioners from Chuckster and about 55k on my 04 nomad and I live about 30 miles N of Tulsa, OK. Any takers on putting a demo on?

KNOW session (cam tensioners)

That is correct about KNOW sessions. There have been about two held in Mississippi and one held in Texas. Keep checking the forum as it is posted when one is going to be held.

Would also be a good idea that somebody records these and puts them up on kawanow or Youtube so people that are to far to attend could still watch it done.

Just an idea I'm trowing out there

There is already a great how to on Gadgets Fixit and another on our Tech board section that explains the procedure.

I know but in 2011, live feed would be the way to go but I'll settle for good old YouTube videos ;)

I had seen the one on Gadget site but guess haven't seen this one. That don't look too difficult. Hmmm 17 hrs to CJ and he wants me to bring beer. That must mean I would be the designated mechanic anyway.
I may try to tackle this at home. CJ thanks for the offer.

thank you all for the input...

Like the idea of video recording KNOW sessions time bandit.

It's not a bad job at all. Just read gadjet's instructions and follow the shop manual instructions on setting them correctly. You won't go wrong.

KNOW session (cam tensioners)

Mike and I did mine in February. Wasn't that bad a deal to do on the rear, the front was a PITA because I have all the cross over stuff still in place.

I still have the crossover tube but I disconnected it at both ends to give a little more access room to the front cyclinder and dissasembled the tensioner while on the bike which gives more access to the inside bolt of the tensioner. You definitely need a ball ended allen key to tighten the inside bolt but really it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. The hardest part of the job was getting off the original pushers and replacing them with the new ones. Access to a good vice is a must. I did mine in a milling machine vice at work as the corners of the jaws of the vices in the shop were pretty beat up.
I had to push on the new tensioner extension in the vice lengthwise by closing the vice.
Thanks again to forum members for their tips and advice.

I just did the job, it is not that bad. I was worried I would not be able to do it, but it went well.
It is fairly easy with the crossover gone. I cut mine out a few months ago.
