Bag Chaps

Recently purchased bag chaps from a business i found on this site. I was wondering how may folks have these items..and did you put anything under the chap..on the bag or the underside of chap to prevent scratches from rubbin and dest accumilation under the chap.

Most of the ones I've seen have a felt-like backing to
minimize scratching, however, that won't always work
unless you take them off and clean the chaps and bags on a
frequent basis. Bras on the front of cars same thing.

On another forum ( for my auto) they have been using Plasti-dip in the spray can. Its like rubberized paint..i was thinking maybe spraying that on the bag so the chap can ride on that. The best part is that the "paint" is totally removable with no damage to the bikes paint. One person even sprayed his whole vehicle with it..crazy i know, but doesnt look that bad. Any opinions on this..?

Sounds like the stuff the guy on TV pitches to seal rain gutters. "We installed a screen door in the bottom of this boat and sealed it with our product."

It's too dusty where I live, bag chaps would sand the paint right off. I had a nice buffalo hide tank bib on my Nomad which had a felt backing and after a couple of months, I had to leave the bib on the tank forever because of the paint damage.

I have them on my bike and I have had no issues with them doing damage. But they come off every other washing to be hosed off and then dried before rtning them to the bike. That's for the last 4 yrs now.

That's the only way to save your paint.

Same here, 'cept I take them off only about twice a year. Mine have no felt or anything, just the vinyl they are made of, and they have not scratched the paint at all. Same goes for my tank bra.

Hammy, where did you purchase the chaps. I've been pondering the same idea for a while, just have never pulled the trigger.

I've had a set from PH Customs for 4 years. No harm to the paint and they look great. I also remove them about twice per year for deep cleaning the bike and cleaning and conditioning the chaps.
