It was all the way down...did you notice the rider got off the bike and walked away?

I've seen or really read about Victory authority bikes. Victory is trying to make big inroads here. There's more competition than HD though. There's Honda ST1300, BMW R1200RT-P and Kawasaki Concours 14. It seems like there's more than a few going away from whatever their departments currently use. I wonder if the bad economy figures in it.

Probably. They're all pretty expensive bikes. Seems like someone could corner the market with a cop only brand. A couple companies have done that with cop cars.

Depends on the country. I would think HD is the major brand in the US for cop bikes.

They won't tip over all the way unless you crash "hard". I would get a Cross Country Tourer in a heart beat - but for now I have no spare cash for any more toys!

Unfortunately, I could only find that pic off the web.... the Victory's that Tyler, Texas PD got are actually Visions.

Keeps everyone on their toes. Shaking things up a bit and buying other brands to keep everyone competitive both in price and quality/function. They'll all keep working harder if nobody's got themselves locked in.

I like the cross country. Nice looking bikes. The vision is a bit much for my taste. No offense to those who have em. It's a personal preference thing. I think I'd like em fine without the trunk. I'm just not a trunk guy.

Last week, something happened that I thought I'd never see. For the past 30+ years, the City of Tyler has always purchased Harley Davidson's for their motorcycle force to ride.

After much consideration, they have decided to convert all of their HD fleet over to Victory Visions.

What made them do it? Warranty. The Visions are coming with a 5-year, bumper-to-bumper, no-hassle warranty. The warranty also includes coverage of all of the emergency lights, radios and related equipment. What were the moto cops in Tyler most impressed with? The fact that you can lay a Vision down on it's side and with a turn of the handle bars and a twist of the throttle, the Vision will right itself.

Trip

In case you were wondering.... they did consider the GoldWing, but it costs more, didn't have as good a warranty and some of the moto cops felt it was too bulky to use in traffic.

that is a cross country though...and yes, I test rode them...nice bikes, would have been on one of those if I didn't find the Vaquero for less than 13 0td.

oil change comes ever 2500 on the vics though

here is a pic of the Vision for reference

Interesting article from Victory detailing the switch in Tyler

I heard from local police here that the real problem has been the HD shop in Tyler...ever since Vance had his wreck

everytime I pass one, i seem to be going 25 over the limit...I really want to catch them eating somewhere and talk to them about the bike, but don't want to bother them while they are on the clock...but seriously I keep passing them going 75 on the loop, and quickly realize its a cop (which is going to be a big plus! now they don't look like every other RK lol...

trip, when are we gonna ride? isn't there another member in the longview area?

A few years ago now, Victory had a demo bike laying on the floor at the "bike show" here in the "lower mainland" where attendees could try and pick one up. I tried and found it relatively easy to do. No special way to do it,just the same way you'd pick your Nomad, Vaquero, Venture, or Harley up.
