Arizona backroads II

Just some stills this time. Did a 400 mile loop with my honey over the weekend. Weather was perfect even on the ride through the desert to home wasn't bad (low 90's) Weather up north was awesome ranging from 70's to the 80's. Pictures are from the road in the pines, brown house is a little B&B we stayed at and views from the room, town of Jerome (an old mining town) and some of the sites. My girl did real well on her bike. This is her first year riding and I was proud of her. There are a couple areas of switchbacks where the speed limit is 15 mph and the road doubles back on itself back and forth for about 12 miles or so. Pretty interesting riding and she held her own.

If you hit F11 on your keyboard when viewing the slideshow, it'll play full screen.

Yeah Scott. It's in the Jerome State Park which is almost out of town on the Cottonwood/Clarkdale side. Pretty cool. There's another museum up past the fire department too at the Gold King mining site. We've been to Jerome before and probably drove past the state park sign half a dozen times and never saw it.

Thanks Stan. Both the bikes ran flawlessly, weather was perfect, accomodations were excellent at the flying eagle and they like the motorcyclists there. Nice spacious, clean, reasonably priced rooms. Sounds like a commercial don't it? Oh yeah, the camera did all the work. Newly purchased and very happy with it. I just point and shoot. Almost won't take a bad picture.

We had "The Loft" room. Beat heck out of a cookie cutter hotel that's for sure. The proprietor Patricia was a sweetheart. She practically forced me to park the bikes on her flagstone porch rather than in the parking lot.

Yeah, I been through there dozens of times and have never seen the state park.

If you are ever down in Mammoth (near Oracle) there is a city park with a display dedicated to mining.

I'll have to check that out when it cools down again. I bird hunt (quail) around Oracle/Florence so somewhat familiar with the area.

This is the loop we did.

Ya, that's a pretty big loop! I haven't done that one in a long time.

Thanks for the pics.. I live in North Idaho, but a couple years ago I was able to spend a few days riding in Arizona (love it).. Jerome is cool, nice ride on 89A to Prescott. If I ever move to Arizona, I think I like Payson and Rim Country (Payson or Prescott...I can't decide). Say Congrats to your girl for me...Great job.

Looks like it was a nice trip. Thanks for the pictures. I'm looking forward to my trip with the wife in June. We will be heading up the Blueridge Parkway in Virginia.
