To Trike or Not

The little woman has made some noise lately about thinkng we need to have a trike instead of the Nomad. She wants to travel but says she thinks a trike would be the way to go. The last trike I was on was my big brothers chopped 1961 Harley flathead 45 back in the early 70's. We have been looking at the Goldwing and the Harley we both like the looks of the HD better but know the wing would prolly ride better. Anyone have input.

I put a Voyager trike kit on my Classic and rode it for about 6 months (I'm not getting any younger). It was okay, but I decided I like two wheels better so off came the Voyager and I'm back to two wheels.

The Voyager kit is for sale and I have all the hardware to fit 1500/1600 Classics and Nomads. If you'd like to try that just PM or e-mail me.

You sure she's not hinting at a Can-Am Spyder Tourer? Not cheap, but the copilots seem to really like 'em.

The first thing you need to find out is Why she thinks a trike is better than a
nomad/.

I'm sure she ain't wanting a spyder. She has told me several times how ugly she thinks they are. To each his own I guess.

She thinks a trike will be safer & more comfy for the long hauls.

Just make sure you test ride a trike at least for a day-long ride before you buy one; and on a route where you are making turns to get the feel for steering, front-end traction, and tip-over.

I wasn't real "fond" of them... maybe you will be. There are plenty of people that are.

Well TC thar's a woman involved, so I don't know how i would know and you don't know, so who does Know!

Who is the pilot? is there 1 or 2 pilots? ....... If 2 he git's his Nomad and she git's what ever she wants.

If he is the pilot and she is a pillion she gets what ever she wants! LOL

That still don't make a trike safer.....

Wheelie, this is redneck logic ok.....

Trikes or these "training" wheel kits aren't any more dangerous than a regular bike. Different, "YES", but not more dangerous. Are they safer? I won't debate that. It takes more than a couple of miles to get used to the feeling and handling of a trike like vehicle. I found out that I could really push the Voyager in corners and it would pull up the "inside" wheel but there were still 3 wheels on the ground. Felt a bit odd but not dangerous. Anyone riding behind me got quite a view though.

Your math is off somewhere. You can't pull up a wheel on a trike and still have 3 on the ground. Trikes only have 3 wheels.
