Ignition switch bezel

How dose the ring around the ignition switch come off? Looks like it may just snap on but don't want to break it if not.

I was a fraid too. At the top there is a slot, i placed some electric tape on a small flat screwdriver. Start at the slot and pop it up, work your fingers underneath. When you think its gonna break, it lets go and you will see the 3 lips on the bezel that keep it snapped in. Dont get crazy and muscle it, but it will pop off. Putting it back is simple.

Thanks. That's what I thought and tried prying in the slot but thought I was going to break it. I'll give it another try.

The best way to get it off is to remove the three bolts from the bezel then place a peace of tape loosely across the top of it, then gently rock the bezel back and forth while applying upward pressure on the bezel and the ring will pop off with no damage. You can do it without the tape if you like chasing flying objects around you garage.

Poor design for sure! As for the squeaking sound that little thing makes, I've not found a solution that works. Mine didn't squeak at first but after about 20K it's driving me crazy.

RacnRay used a rubber o-ring on the bottom of mine. It was probably about the diameter of a quarter. He knew the issue and said it would fix it right up. Never heard any squeaks rattles or otherwise. Give it a try.

Mine too Gypsy...lol... Just trying to get Vance and Hines to replace a slip on that came all fooked up from their factory. Pissed because I did not notice the defect until I had already installed on the bike.
