seems like all installers under inflate tires I think they figure if they are under inflated they will wear quicker therefore more sales not just motorcycle but have had this on auto tires also

Had Commander II's on my Voyager and Loved them, only 8000 out of the Bridgestones, and over 19,000 (Miles) on the C 2's and still had more to go but to my fault didn't keep up on the inflation and ran under when the temps changed and started to separate, but have NO complaints on Commanders.......

I may be the only one that has not had a positive experience with Commander IIs. I put a set on last October and by the end of this month they will have to be changed. During the period, Ive put on just under 11,000 miles. Apparently the heat and road surface here limits the mileage. The best mileage I ever got from a rear tire was 13,000 miles from a Dunlop 404, made in Japan and installed on a Nomad.

Interesting, the two experiences with the 404 for me have been disappointing... Makes me curious about air pressure you ran vs what I ran. And of course, road surface differences in where you rode vs where I rode...
Interesting...

Ride safe,
Smokier

I got out for a 300 plus mile ride today after adjusting the air. These tires definitely suck. I'll go back to Bridgestone on the next set.

After the ride, what is it that you don't like?

I feel every piece of tar that's not completely flat. There is no flex or give to the tire. It feels like putting on one of those hard rubber tires they had for bicycles. The stock Bridgestone gave a nice cushy ride and handled everything that they hit. I'm not really interested in the longevity of the tire. I am more interested in the ride. I like comfort and being able to be on the road for 12 hours at a time.

I inflate to 40 psi on the rear tire. Low mileage came from tires made in places other than Japan. I've never been able to tell much difference in handling or ride comfort from brand to brand. My Michelin Commanders where made in Thailand. Moving on to another brand.

I know this thread is more than a month old, but I was here looking at tire threads for exactly this reason. I've had the Commander IIs on the Voyager for about two years and can't wait for them to wear out so I can try something else. I like the high mileage of the Commanders but hate the ride. They are hard, rough, spin in the rain, and follow every tar snake. I just finished a four day tour of Eastern Oregon and am ready to take them off. They beat me to death at 34/38 so I took the front down to 28lbs. for a little relief. I'm ready to try Exedra Max.

Wow, that is some low tire peressure
I run 38 in the rear C2 but 28 in the front seems like the tire would flex and wander left to right while riding.

I went through the stock rear tire at 6500 miles. Still had maybe 1000 more but the wear bars were coming up quick. I had an Avon Cobra av72 rear tire installed. So far i love it. Grips great. The bike feels like it is on rails. Cant speak on longevity, its only got about 600 miles on it. I still have the stock front tire, which will get swapped out soon for the matching Avon. It still has alot of life left though. I run 36 psi front, 40 psi rear with shocks set on 3 and 20 psi.

I agree Tim, i never understood why Kawi recommends such a low tire pressure. It was the same on my 1500 classic. Kawi wanted 39 psi rear and 28 psi front. I did for the first year I owned my 1500 and the front feathered and cupped horribly. I put on Metzlers and bumped front pressure up to 36 psi and never had the issue again,

i am still on my original B-stones..rear almost worn out in middle at 7000 miles... just decreased pressures to 35 front and rear to see if i can go another 1000 or so.... had 40 in rear before... will see.. probably will stay with them tho on next set..michelin , according to a rep for the co. has gone to a harder compound in ALL of its tires in recent years, thus, a firmer ride... i cant even get the lx 4 for our family van any longer..( no milage guarantee, but what a soft ride ) he says most customers want a longer lasting tire so they had to go harder on everything they make...i put hankook on van last time and love them...soft, cushiony ride.. wish they made a bike tire
