Kuryakyn ally cat/roaring toys air intakes

Looking at a air intake for my 2015 Vaquero. Have seen some videos stating that the alley cat and roaring toys air intakes stick out quite a ways further than the stock cover and make it difficult to brake and or are uncomfortable on your leg when driving. Looking for some input from anyone who has them on their bike. Thanks in advance.

Cant comment on the alley cat, but I have the Tornado from Thunder Mfg, and its a lot better than the stock. With stock my knee was up against the intake, with the the tornado, lots of room and a great improvement over stock.

Thanks for the replyMPSS. I will have to check out what Thunder has to offer although I really like the looks and review of the alley cat and roaring toys. Also since checking out the Thunder site and you tube video did you get any gaskets to install on the throttle body and filter pipe. The guy on youtube was complaining about it. Thanks in advance

I second the Thunder Mfg. I have a buddy with the Kuryakyn and it sticks out so far that it interferes with not only the floorboard, but also the break pedal and very uncomfortable because your knee is always hitting it.

The Thunder...I dont even feel...nothing gets in the way.

I've got Alley Cat intakes on both my Classic and Voyager. CaptKurt is correct, it does stick out pretty far. After a few rides I got familiar with the fit and ride position, so it doesn't bother me at all. The reason it sticks out is the adapter/velocity tube under the actual chrome filter. All the photos of the product don't show that piece. Look at the photo in the bottom left, it shows the distance from the engine.

Have the roaring toyz on mine. At first, I found it uncomfortable. Now when I ride my other bike, I find that I miss it. I got used to it. I have never been able to kick the habit of keeping my knees on the tank. All the old dirt bike and atv riding just make it a habit for me. If you're used to having your legs out more, it probably wouldn't make too much difference.

Thanks for the reply and pics Kap. Who manufactures the chrome filler plate on the left side?
Thanks Scootergptx for the reply on the roaring toyz air. More thinking to do.

Thunder (what I used) and Chuckster both make the left side plates. The cost more than they're worth, but....

I have the Roarin' Toyz. It definitely sticks out, and at 6'1", my knee does rest against it. It isn't uncomfortable to me, but if I tuck my left knee in, it does make me feel a bit asymmetrical. Performance is very good with it. As far as the left side, I designed and made my own plate to fill the hole.
